The Grand Hotel at the Grand Canyon

Description

Hop up onto one of the barstools and you will be sitting on a saddle actually used to ride into the canyon. Enjoy a cocktail, or settle in for a hearty breakfast, Western-style lunch or sizzling steak dinner. Native American dancers perform most evenings during dinner, year round, at no extra charge. Steaks and barbecue are the specialties of the house. The dark wood decor and soaring ceilings give this restaurant the hunting lodge ambiance typical of Grand Canyon restaurants and hotels.

Great service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/14/11
We did not stay at your hotel as we were camping in the Grand Canyon. However, we visited Tusayan in June when we went into town to see the IMAX. Just wanted you to know that we had great service at your hotel bar from Tony and his backup, Daniel. We had a few drinks there and an appetizer. Tony was absolutely wonderful, courteous, friendly and-made us feel very welcome. Daniel was the same. We will definitely visiting and/or staying at your hotel on our next visit to the Grand Canyon. Please let Tony and Daniel know how much we appreciated their service.

Delitefully Surprised!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/8/09
The hotel is located in the Grand Canyon Village which is right outside the main gate to the park. Our room was nice and clean, beds were comfy even the extra twin bed was soft & snug! Maid service was great during the 5 day stay. We'd leave and they were on it without a problem. Staff very friendly and helpful. Their Starbucks and gift shop were slow due to only one person working both. Only coffees no fraps. The bar and restraunt were a bit overpriced but what wasnt in the Village. The pool was the only complaint, steps were slimey and a good filter would of taken care of the hair floating on top. The hotel was cabiney and cozy, close to the park, clean and comfy. Although our stay was great and we have wonderful memories the room was expensive.

Very over-priced. Not worth it.
By Robert Cooper, 8/13/09
Very over-priced. The rooms were average at best. Over 2 weeks on road this was the most expensive stay and a Best Western, LaQuinta or Comfort Inn would have been better. You would have thought thia was a 5 star based on price and attitude. Pass on this one.

Extremely disappointed!
By Roadrunner, 6/13/09
In October 2008, I took a bus tour from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon and when we passed The Grand Hotel, I told my companions, "When I come back to the Grand Canyon, I am going to stay in that hotel." I wish I had read all these Yahoo Travel reviews first! When we checked in I asked about lobby internet access, which was advertised in the brochure, I was told it was not available and I should try the Internet Cafe down the street! Since I needed to check my email and print confirmation for a helicopter flight the next morning, I had no choice but to go down the street and pay $3.50, when the hotel had advertised FREE lobby internet access. We asked if there was a refrigerator in the room and were told "no, but you could have one for $25 per night!" My $66 room in Sedona had a free refrigerator. The ice machine was broken on our floor and when I asked about ice, I was told I could go to the second floor ice machine. Maybe there was a reason I asked for a ground floor room? So I went into the overpriced restaurant and asked to have my water bottle filled with ice and water. The rooms are advertised as having "balconies". Well my ground floor room overlooked rocks and a stone wall! Breakfast was included in my reservation (I paid extra) and it was nothing more than a mediocre buffet. And to add insult to injury, they tried to present us will a bill for $30! I had better breakfasts and free internet at other rooms on my trip for less than $90 a night! The restaurant prices were outrageous and we went to "Spaghetti Western" up the street for delicious Chicken Parmigiana and pizza the second night. Highly reconmmend it! The ONLY thing I can recommend about The Grand Hotel is the location, however there are several chain motels on the other side of the street which I am sure are less expensive and have amenities. Would I recommend it? NO!

A GRAND place to stay!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/09
We stayed here last week for a surprise trip for my husband's 40th birthday!!! We traveled all the way form Minnesota. The stay here was great!!! No complaints at all!!! The room was nice. The staff was very kind and helpful. The hotel was very clean. The staff knew from our reservations that it was my husband's birthday and they left a birthday card and a bottle of wine with glasses for us in the room!!! Starbucks WAS open!!! The concierge was helpful. We would recommend this hotel to anyone and would very happily stay there again!!!

We were here Nov 8.....nothing to brag about. This is an old hotel with some upgrades. The beds were very comfortable but the room could have been cleaner. Biggest complaint would be the restaurant next door. We were drawn to it by a sign offering appetizers and drinks half-price until 6pm. Anyhow when we received our bill we found out it was only if you were seated at the bar. This wasn't noted on the sign so we were a little upset. The food was good but pricey. I always have an issue when the restaurant chooses to add in the gratuity, I can understand it for large groups but we were only four. I didn't see it on a sign anywhere or on the menu for if I did we would have went somewhere else, now we just won't go back.

WOW I realy had a great time at this hotel . The pool and hot tub and work out room are nice and clean. They realy are helpfull with helping you find the best tours and places to visit in the area without being pushy or irritated . The live entertainment was realy fun . The bar was fun for all with saddles for some of the stools and some great games . Also the Angels gate tour that was recomended to us by them was better than you could imagine with a great guide that packed a realy nice lunch and showed some realy cool places off the beaten path . Oh yeah , the beds and pillows are very nice ! Great place to stay , when I go back I will stay again for sure .

NOT SO GRAND
By SUSAN, 7/3/08
WE WERE NOT REAL IMPRESSED WITH THE GRAND HOTEL. I BOOKED IT ONLINE AND IT LOOKED GREAT. HOWEVER, THE ACTUAL ROOM WAS NO BETTER THAN A MOTEL 8 OR 6 AND WE PAID $220.00 FOR ONE NIGHT. IT WAS HIGHWAY ROBBERY FOR WHAT YOU GOT. THEY ADVERTISED IT IS A LUXURY HOTEL, WHICH IS NOT TRUE AT ALL. I GUESS WE PAID FOR THE LOCATION TO THE GRAND CANYON. WE WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE APPEARANCE. HOWEVER, THE SERVICE WAS GREAT AND STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL.
