This is a family owned restaurant, not fancy but friendly and tasty. The decor has recently been improved. We go there so often that one of the waitresses knows us on sight and asks us how we've been. I highly recommend the spring rolls, both the shrimp/pork and the tofu varieties are very good. These aren't fried like egg rolls, they are wrapped in soft rice paper. The vermicelli is my favorite entree. Vegetables or choice of meat, on noodles, on a bed of lettuce and basil. Try dipping the food in the dressing instead of pouring it on, because it can end up all at the bottom of the bowl. Some of the sauces on the other dishes are a little bland but you can add extra flavor with the condiments on the table which include hoisin sauce, chili sauce, fish sauce, and soy sauce.
I just tried this for take-out. I ordered Bun with steak and a rice bowl with pork and a side of egg rolls.
They were very flavorful and filling. I wasn't expecting meat in my rolls but it was a good addition. The was indeed friendly and fast. The other customers were treated like regulars which is a good sign.
The most noteworthy point about eating here is that the meat was very fresh and tender. Certainly didn't taste like it was sitting around. Will definitely go back!
I've tried Vietnamese all over town, and Pho 88 is by far the freshest, most flavorful in town! The family-owned atmosphere is always friendly and helpful. Great place for casual dining and large groups!
I recently moved here from NYC and my husband and I miss the Vietnamese food in Flushing Queens and found Pho 88 online and read some pretty great reviews. We decided to try and wow what a disappointment. The food was bland and even the thai ice tea was watered down. It was def not authentic Vietnamese food like we have had in NYC....We really wanted to like this place....the service was good and people friendly but I cannot lie and say the food was good.
This is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Tucson. The soup is authentic, the veggies are fresh, and the atmosphere is nice and casual. This is definitely a great family owned hole in the wall restaurant!!!!! I wouldn't go anywhere else for PHO!
Rude service, lack of customers, & bland food dominate this place. The pho is a bit greasy, average & w/out much beef. The rice plates are dull, greasy & even the rice is not tasty. No napkins/forks on takeout & no smiles either.
