Mi Nidito

Description

For more than four decades, Tucsonans have flocked to this "little nest" for well-prepared and well-priced Sonoran specialties. Housed in an attractive Mexican village-style building, it offers good food, friendly service and an authentically Mexican experience. The interior is colorful and lively with bright red chairs, serape-striped upholstery and Mexican art. Among the many menu options are chile rellenos (stuffed chile peppers), burros, tacos, enchiladas, chimichangas, flautas and huevos rancheros (a popular egg, bean and chile dish). Mexican and domestic beers and wines are served. Open wednesday to sunday from 11:30am onwards.

This is the best Mexican food in Southern Arizona. Dangerous area where it's located.

Over-Rated, Disappointed I went to Mi Nidito on a Sunday night on the advice of a tour guide. Perhaps it was because of what I ordered, but I am really not sure why so many people are willing to wait 45 minutes to over 1 ½ hours for a table here. First, a parking lot attendant, dressed in black, talking on his cell phone, waves “NO, NO!” at me as I was entering their lot. He did get off the phone long enough to advise me to park across the street, but couldn’t tell me how long the wait was. Inside, the manager/host was a little rude about my wanting a table if it was “just you?” My wait was about 20 minutes, and I was led quickly to a wet table: at least it was a four-person booth to myself. I was served water fairly quickly by a busser. The waitress did not speak to me, merely stood by my table and glared impatiently as I told her what I wanted. I had the rellenos, which were slammed onto my table fairly quickly but somehow had already lost their crispiness. They were both filled with and drowned in very bland melted white cheese. The rice and beans that were served with it were better: the rice actually tasted like rice with a savory blend of Mexican spices. After about 15 minutes, I could not cram anymore greasy cheese down so I pushed my plate away. Considering how rushed everyone was, I was surprised to have to wait 10 minutes for my check. After another 10 minutes with cash out to pay, I finally went to the front to pay. I was glad to get back to my hotel to sleep it off.

By far the busiest restaurant in Tucson. The food is authentic, service is great.Consistent to the "T".There is a reason why there is a wait. Good, well prepared meals and impeccable service Rocco

Small business, here to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/4/10
The best Mexican food Tucson has to offer. I have been eating here my whole life, even before all the famous people wanted to eat here. The staff is amazing and always gets everything right. The only downside is that since it is the best, everyone wants to eat here, so be prepared for a wait.

great place to take guests after picking them up at the airport. Always a short wait, but the food is great as well as the beer and margritas.

The food was so-so. Some dishes were delicious winners & others so dried out. Pick your choices carefully; look at what others are eating & ask if they are enjoying the food. Place is always packed & for decades they must be doing something right. Beers are ice cold, margaritas tasty & the tortillas are sublime. I recommend the Bill Clinton Presidential Platter; it's so good you'll walk out feeling like you just got a lewinsky.

Mi Nidito has been around for many years and deserves to stay. It is a family style restaurant with good food. It is not fancy but the staff is friendly.
