I wish there were minus stars - or F's for efverything - My favorite place closer to town Kozuko was closed. I wanted sushi. I have been hearing about how fabulous this place was since i've been living in Tucson (the fabulous city!). last nite i decided to try it - UGH! I sat at the sushi bar. i ordered something simple i thought surely they couldn't screw up being my first time there. California roll. and two pcs of Yellowtail sushi - i ate the yellowtail first and it was good. I told the waiter i didn't want much rice and he said no problem, but there was too much rice - and i let it go not a problem. a preference not a need.
But when i bit into the simple and very very plain california roll - it tasted like it had been sitting out open for hours. the rice was sticky, hard and stale tasting. the inside of the roll was shrunk up where at Kozuku it is always fresh and packed inside.
i'm from DALLAS my friends. I know great food, restaurants, and dining. This was at best or worse.... a stale sushi drive through in a cheap part of town. the ghetto.
They kept asking me how it was - they never refilled even my water glass. I gave them the thumbs up a couple of times then i called the waiter over and told him - uh... where did this come from? I know my sushi and this is the stalest i've every had. He walked over to the rice holder big bowl and came back and shrugged his shoulders and said... uh its close to closing time so its not real fresh. Then he said, do you want me to take it off the bill? And i said yes.
But when the bill came it was still on it.
I just paid it after telling the waitress my story and she said, 'okay, have a great evening' - I told the waiter, I had made a sushi mistake and would never go there again.
He also said 'ok thanks, have a nice evening' which makes me think its a pretty common occurrence.
I go to Wendy's next time Kozuko is closed -
Maybe YOU SHOULD GO THERE - and not fool with this place.
