Description

This place is one of the favorite hangouts for University of Arizona coeds and others, as it serves the famous Bison Witches Bloody Mary, a drink consumed in large quantities by droves of hungover college students on Sundays. That's part of the Fourth Avenue tradition. Another reason to visit this bar is speedy service, plus the legendary overstuffed deli sandwiches. It's not easy to find a seat during lunch hour, and even more difficult during Happy Hour, when skilled bartenders serve up a good selection of vodkas, tequilas and bourbons. So be prepared to wait a little for the Great Happy Hour Special, but be assured it'll be worth it. This place opens daily at 11am.

HUGE sandwiches. Just order a half. trust me. Cheap food, great drink specials and hot servers. No wonder they are always so busy.

HUGE!

Huge Sandwiches. Half a sandwhich is the size of one you would make with 4 slices of rainbow bread. I would recommend if you've never eatin' there before get the half veggie sandwich with cheese and brocoli soup. Poore brothers chips come with it and the combination of textures in your mouth is to live for!

Best Nachos

Bison is not only a great bar with loads on tap. They make great carb meals too. They have a few sandwiches but don't think anything here is small. The calm chowder in a bread bowl is a classic and favorite of the locals. You can have a full sandwich but be ready to open wide as the bread is sliced by 2 inches a slice. You can get 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 soup which I highly recommend. This is a college favorite but adored by the locals too. Nachos are the best, huge tray size.

The best bar in Tucson. They just added a patio bar and it's fantastic. A great place to get a beer and smoke at the same time. Food is tasty and the waitresses are friendly, and did I mention HOT!

This place is awesome! The soup and 1/2 sandwich is to die for. The sandwiches are really good and the soup which comes in a bread bowl are top notch. The atmosphere is loud (it is a bar), seating can sometimes be tough, but if you wait a few mintutes it is worth it.

Good sandwiches, popular bar

Bison Witches is a nice place for late lunch. They serve up huge sandwiches at good prices, and it comes to the table fast. They also make great soup in a bowl and have pretty fresh bread. As a bar, it's very crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. You probably won't get a seat. Go to a bigger bar if you don't feel like standing side by side with strangers.

THE place to be in Tucson!

This place has been a Tucson staple for over 12 years and keeps on serving up the best bar food that isn't "bar food"!! Go and try a 1/2 sandwich and soup (yes soup in Tucson,,,,trust me) and a cold micorbrew and you will see what I am talking about. The employees (waitresses) are cute and efficient, and also knockouts. I have fallen in love here many times! With a full bar and daily drink specials, they won't empty your wallet either. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Always fun!

The 1/2 soup 1/2 sandwich deal is a must! This restaurant is a hidden treasure, a hole-in-the-wall place for huge sandwiches, beer, and just a good time. Locals and students come here, so you may have a wait, but it's definitely worth it! :)

Great budget eats

Food is top-notch and great value - definitely try their 1/2 sandwitch + soup special for $6.50 (very generous portions - I'm a big eater and I almost always get stuffed!). The music is a little loud though. Great for late night eats.

Great food!

Did you know that Bison Witches really comes from "Buy Sandwiches?" They serve huge sandwiches for such a great price... my fav is the half sandwich and soup in a bread bowl. Delicious!
