When we visit Tucson twice/three times a year from the UK, we always eat here a couple of times, but ONLY on the patio. Last two weeks, November 1-11th 2007 the most recent. I can't stand it inside....noisy and horrible. If you don't want to wait, eat early ! Staff have always been nice to us. Only had to complain once about waiting for food (long ago) and Manager gave us the meal free. What more can you ask for ! Yummy Margaritas !
I usually have a good experience with the food and service here. However the last two times i have had cold food and have been kept waiting. It's not that they were to busy since i noticed several open booths. I think that the kitchen staff is undermanned and inexperienced. Our hostess was not helpful in seating us promply and looked disgusting. I mean come on, tuck in that gut. The waitress was nice and the manager came out and said our food would be up soon which was nice. I am still dissappointed with the overall experience lately.
My friend and I usually order lunch, which is great food for reasonable prices. The service is very personable, but not overly zealous - a good thing if you don't want the waiter hanging over the back of your booth all the time. The thing I liked most about the ambiance was that the music was never too loud: so many restaurants today seem to think that the music should be heard over the patrons' chatter, which makes for one very loud and unpleasant meal. On the Border had an interesting soundtrack (always culturally themed) and they kept it in the background. This is one restaurant where you can enjoy your meal and your conversations.
