Changed menu. Less choices on menue. Old favorites gone. Wait is artificial and patrons are directed to bar until seating is available while dozens of clean tables remain empty. Decreased servings and increased price. Used to get chips and salsa included, now extra. Used to be our favorite place. Too much of a tourist trap now. Over crowded and over rated.
This place used to be good few years ago. We recently went there. Their menu has changed; they have cut down a lot out of their menu. The food is expensive for a Mexican food. They also charge for extra chips and salsa. You would pay for ambient (pond, ducks etc). They also create lines artificially to sell drink. I no longer recommend this restaurant any more. It used be a good place but not anymore. .
This is our favorite place to eat, anywhere in the Phoenix area. We recently moved away for a year due to a job requirement, and once we got back, the first place we went to eat was El Encanto. A secret about the margaritas is that the blended ones are stronger. And the Queso Guillermo is our favorite, with machomos. We can make a meal out of it.
This place is always packed, expect at least a half hour wait on weekends. The restaurant features a nice pond in the middle full of geese and ducks. Don't worry, they don't venture outside of the pond area. Chip and salsa bar while you wait, only con there is they don't have many salsas to choose from, only two.
As for the main course, food is very good. My favorite is the pollo fundido. Margaritas are good. My fiance and I love it so much, we are getting married there next year.
Staff has always been courteous and fast. Parking is limited and sometimes tough to find a spot, but other than that, it's great.
We got married there back in 1995 and try to make it there at least once ayear or when family and friends come to visit. We have seen alot of changes over the years but love the food , staff and place!
The server was great, wonderful sense of humor. We like to have fun when we go out, and my older son was visiting between duty stations,(he is active air force), we had a wonderful dinner in a wonderful atmosphere. We are locals and didn't run into the problem of unruly children. To the people who wrote unfavorable reviews, I would suggest you lighten up and go with the flow! Life is noisy and messy, make the best of it @ El Encanto! You only go 'round once!
