Roaring Fork

Description

Roaring Fork is an American Western Bistro. What is American Western Cuisine? It is a combination of using foods that are indigenous to the American West, locally grown ingredients, and capturing the 'spirit' of the west. The restaurant offers a comfortable, laid back environment that includes friendly professional service and good food. A great deal of attention is paid to all the ingredients in creating the recipes and always using foods that are found in the American West, including locally grown produce. Western cuisine is not a ceremony; it's a celebration! The robust flavors and the courage to try something different is what we are all about. We would like to invite everyone to experience our 'spirit' while enjoying our food and hospitality.

Friendly atmosphere, excellent service. Wood-fired cooking and thoughtful but not outlandish food combinations make this an out-of-the-ordinary dining experience. These are dishes you wouldn't just whip together at home so the experience is worth it. Try the Dr. Pepper short ribs, the bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin with corn salsa or the duck breast with onion relish.

Got the RFmixed grill and the chicken was blood rare. Be sure to check your food because there not! The ribs taste and look like they have been parboiled seasoned and then tossed on the grill for a few minutes. The Elgin sausage was very fatty/greasy. Not worth $24! No way. My wife had the Carnitas. The pork was tough. We did enjoy the Fried Avocado and Crab.Have a drink and some appetizers. Skip the entrees! Go to Blue Adobe.

Roaring Fork is unique!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/1/09
The menu here is very unique and everything I have tried has been very good. I love the decor and feel of this place. Have sat at the bar many times for a drink and a light bite and there's always other people there doing the same. I really like this restaurant and recommend it highly!

The map on Yahoo is wrong. The map places the restaurant too far south. It is literally on the corner of Chapparal. Thanks to Yahoo, we spent 30 minutes looking for the restaurant. Food here was pretty good. Service was good but food came out too quick. Would probably try again.

Clean restaurant, good service, yummy food!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/16/09
First off, you have to try the green chile mac n cheese- it's sooo good!! I order two sides of it and make it my main entree! We've had good service here in the 3+ times we've been here. It's not super cheap, but it's not outrageously expensive. The atmosphere is really nice. It's clean. We'd definitely recommend it to others who are looking for a nice night out.

Great restaurant. While the wood burning oven is the centerpiece, anything coming either out of it or the kitchens is delicious. The menu is heavy on the meats, but I had delicious fish there. It's a little tricky to get to, it's not exactly ON Scottsdale Rd. But worth the trip!

Roaring Good Time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/11/08
We ate here while on vacation in Arizona and we thought the restaurant pretty good. The staff was quick and friendly and the place was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. I had the green mac and cheese and while it sounds kinda of funny it was yummy. Creamy and cheesy, the green was peppers! The desserts were very good too. The prices were not too bad, but not cheap. I would go there again.

This may rate a 25 for food in AZ but in Boston/NY/Miami/SF no one would take notice maybe a 16. It's a glorified Chili's. Watered down martini, brown lettuce Caesar Salad and overcooked shrimp swimming in a non identifiable sauce. Service was a step above Applebee's. Never again. Waste of money. Not an east coast snob and I really think PHX has some great eateries, but this place is not one of them. Stay away.
