The Melting Pot
The Melting Pot Restaurant is where fun is cooked up fondue style. Romantic for Couples and Great in a Group. Our Scottsdale restaurant is easily accessible from the 101. About one mile West on Via De Ventura in the Commons at Hayden Plaza. The modern yet warm casually elegant atmosphere sets the mood for a relaxing evening. The leisurely paced four-course experience begins with a cheese fondue prepared table side. A fresh salad follows while your entree pot heats up. You'll simmer a variety of tantalizing meats, seafood and vegetables. Each morsel is hot, fresh and delicious and all entrees are accompanied by an array of dipping sauces to add to the flavorful fun. Chocolate fondue is the finale, all served with decadent dippers. Most make reservations for the four-course dining experience but more than a few have stopped by to satisfy that cheese fondue or chocolate craving. Hand crafted cocktails and great wine list.
I have been to a couple locations now and I still say that what you are paying for is the gimmick, not good quality food. I will say that the experience is worth it, maybe once for a special occasion. If you get a full meal for two people you are paying over $60, and that's without alcohol. I can pay less than that for a higher quality meal at a place that actually cooks the food for me. The dessert is exceptional, and that would be the only part of the menu I would recommend.
Just to be clear on what you are paying for: chopped up fruit and veggies, pieces of bread, and raw meat. anything that requires cooking (meat, potatoes, etc.) you cook yourself at the table. The quality of the bread, fruit and veggies was disappointing. The (very small) cup of vegetables consisted of celery, cauliflower, and carrots. I've never been to a fine restaurant that considers celery a vegetable, generally they are chopped up on salads or served with wings.
There is the cheese course in which you dip, then the oil course in which you do the cooking, and then the dessert course where you are dipping in chocolate. Dessert is made up of marshmallows, some fruit, and tiny pieces of cake. Again, for what they are charging, the quality of what you are dipping leaves much to be desired, but the melted chocolate makes even the cheapest marshmallow taste heavenly.
Amazing dining experience. If you want to have an AWESOME dinner, where you spend time talking to your guests and enjoying delicious food, this is the place to go! This is the MOST Amazing Fondue Journey ever!!! The martini's are out of this world and reasonably priced too! Even if you just go for cheese and chocolate, completely worth it!!! Great date night. Great re-connecting with friends night. Great family night! Go Fondue!!! Best dining experience in town!!!
The restaurant is cozy enough, it could use some interior modifications, but your here for the food and the fun. It’s a great place for a date, as it is intimate, different and tasty. While I realized it is a fondue house, I did not realize I would be cooking my own food when the entrée came around. So it broke down like this: first we got a big bowl of oozy cheese that came with mixed bread, vege’s and granny smith apples, which we dipped into the cheese YUM, then we were served some boring salads (trust me no comes here for the salad), then came our entrée, I got 9oz of fillet mignon that came with ½ of a large portabella mushroom --- raw, which I got to cook in our boiling cauldron of spiced white wine—freaking delicious! It is served with a dizzying array of sauces to complement your order. And if you have the appetite of a quarterback, you can get the chocolate fondue for dessert, which looked heavenly, but I had neglected to leave any room for. Final analysis: a great place to celebrate, take guests to, or a date. But please don’t tell everyone, as it already gets pretty busy there.
We had one of the three course meals. The food was great, but when I went to use the restroom, there was a roach on the floor, still alive. I was going to let them know on the way out, but the greaters were no longer up front. I most likely will not eat there again.
Who knew you could eat so well at a fondue restaurant. The service and the food were excellent.
Highly recommend the Melting Pot as a date place since the lighting and the atmosphere are so low key.
The price is about what you would pay at a standard moderately priced restaurant.
Definitely plan on eating there again. Maybe i'll get to try the dessert next time!
My first visit was most enjoyable. The food is excellent, the ambiance pleasing, and the service friendly. I do feel that it is overpriced. I recommend The Melting Pot for dessert, but not a good place to frequent otherwise.
