Salt Cellar Restaurant
The Salt Cellar Restaurant may be a bit hard to find, but the seafood here is hard to beat. Look for the skylight protruding from the grass at the corner of Hayden and McKellips and go on in for some of the finest coastal preparations in town. Be sure to make it for their award-winning happy hour. A handwritten menu of the day's fresh catch including king crab, lobster, shrimp, clams, crab cakes and oysters will give you a whiff on what to order. Owners Richard and Cindy Huie maintain the highest quality without compromising on service.
made dinner reservations a week in advance and the table we sat at was in the door way to the bar. It was alittle cramped for 4 people.I had heard nothing but good about this place but i have to say for the price the food and service were horrible. The baked potatoes were cold and the lobster was no better than red lobster, not to mention that everytime the waitress or drink girl walked by they kicked the back of my wifes chair. What a rip this place turned out to be!
The service was terrible and the food was even worse. I would never go back! The shrimp smelled and tasted like amonia and the steak was quite bad. Not impressed with the mussel's as an appetizer. Just very shocked because I've heard nothing but great things about the place.
Salt Cellar is not easy for the unknowing to find. Even though it is tucked away, underground, you find a treasure of ambiance, making you feel as though you are in one of the finest eating establishments of your life. The servers are friendly and very helpful as to what is at the top of the current list of favorites. Even though seafood is touted as wonderful, many other choices are available and are just as excellent.
The Salt Cellar is also one of those places to eat that you don't want to skip dessert. So many tasty choices may make you look twice but, no matter what you choose, you will enjoy it.
After you have enjoyed your meal, you will walk out with a smile and a comfortably full tummy.
Me and my boyfriend went there for the first time about six years ago and we love it. The seafood is fabulous. We always order the Shrimp San Remo as an apetizer it is so delicious. We even asked them to bring a side of the marinade to dip my bread in. For my main course We alway order the King crab and fillet mignon. The best part is that theres no work. The waiters/waitresses crack the crab legs for you. At the end of your dinner they bring you out a nice worm toil and they place it on you hands. This place is wonderful I am so glad my previous boss intruduce me to this great restaraunt. Keep of the good work and I'll keep on coming.
I'd never been to this restaurant, even though I'd grown up just a couple of miles from it. We went there for our 8th wedding anniversary and had a great meal! I recommend the crab cake appetizer and the mahi mahi with hazelnuts. Oh SO yummy! I would definitely go back here in a heartbeat!
What a great spot. We were traveling through Scottsdale and decided to dine here based on enthusiastic internet interviews and were not disappointed. The first night we stopped in there weren't any tables available (make a reservation - it's a popular spot), so we had appetizers at the bar and were impressed enough to make a reservation for another evening. The seafood is fresh, the ambience is unfussy, cozy and comfortable and the service is fine. If we lived in Scottsdale we'd make this spot a weekly stop.
