Casey Moore's Oyster House
Serving up excellent seafood, many brews on tap, and an occasional ghost story, this long-time Tempe establishment has entertained diners and drinkers for many years in an old house rumored to be haunted. Most come down for their awesome happy-hour, but others stay for the food. Here, you will not be disappointed with the Oysters Rockefeller, a terrific blend of spinach, bacon and a creamy cheese sauce which smothers a thick oyster. For dinner, the Orange Ginger Shrimp cannot be beat. You receive seven large shrimp, pasta, artichokes, spinach and apples, all finished with a ginger-citrus sauce. Casey Moore's Oyster House is a Bohemian place with a Irish pub ambiance that will just charm you.
So my tight-knit group of friends from downtown Phoenix decided to venture out and go to Tempe for a friends going away party. We all go out together almost every weekend and we hardly ever leave downtown Phoenix to go to bars, even though the bars in downtown Phoenix are not always the best.
We all traveled out to tempe together in a Denali to Casey Moores. Then the hired help security guard almost didn't let my boyfriend in, he is 30 but doesn't look it. Then the security guard denies access to another friend who is 25 and a big guy, he doesn't look underage. So here we all are to be together for a close friends going away party and one of our friends can't get in. I just think this is bullshit, none of us are in college anymore and we will stay downtown were you don't get harassed about ID's.
Then the patio doesn't have any misters. I was ill the next day from dehydration, drinking outside in 100 degree heat is awful. Plus, if you are out on the patio the women's restroom is quite the trek.
We regret our decision to go to Casey Moores and we will not be going again.
LOVE it. Such a nice and earthy staff, everyone is really friendly and just there to have a good time. Great place to take it easy and relax with a nice beer in the evening. I live on Mill and 13th and my roommates and I walk there often. Very relaxed attire and a nice place to unwind after work with friends.
The food and the ambiance is good...but be careful if you don't have an ID that is horizontal like it should be (for Arizonans) or if you don't look exactly like your picture anymore.
I turned 21 and didn't get my ID changed until a year and a half later. The guy at the gate was rather rude to me and said that the next time I come and its not fixed he won't let me in...even though the date clearly puts me over 21. I was a little miffed.
After reading the other review about how they wouldn't let everyone in either...just be wary that it could be you.
I love this place! The wings are without a doubt the best around town, also you can't forget to order the fries with all that yummy cheese melting on top. This bar is very versitle you can come here to eat diner and enjoy a relaxing drink or if your feeling more lively invite all your friends and enjoy some car bombs! The staff is always great and very welcoming.
I used to be a big fan of this place until recently. The last few times I've visited the waitstaff has been really rude, and they have charged more on my credit card than what I put down on the receipt 3 times now. I'm not a light tipper either. I always tip 20% or more, but apparently that isn't enough. I tried to go in and tell them that their waitstaff was overcharging credit cards, but I was completely ignored. Don't think I will go back any time soon.
I'm a seafood snob from Rhode Island relocated to Tempe. This is the only place I order seafood regularly. The patio buzzes with conversation, the eclectic indoor decor is ancient, the story of the bar and it's people. This is a cool house.
I've dined at Casey's many dozens of times. You may see an occasional poor review but I will assure you a bad dining experience is not common here, but it happens in every pub. If you're a prissy fine dining snob, don't come. This is AZ urban rustic. Go to your foo foo place.
I know the wait staff. They take care of their patrons, many are friends, long time neighborhood irregulars. The staff is professional all the way. I'm often amazed at how hard they work.
You never know what will pop up on the menu. I recently had grilled marlin. Tuna, mahi mahi, swordfish and all kinds of shellfish will dot the specials daily but the menu is varied and full.
I strongly recommend the Osyters Rockefeller, made fresh, it's worth the wait. Wash it down with a good brew. Casey's has a good tap with most of the Irish & English ales you'd expect plus a few local favorites. They flow all day and night. It's a great place to be social, lively, a cross section of Tempe.
Come to think of it ..... it's okay if you don't stop by. Maybe the service isn't so good. Yeah, that's it. Read the bad reviews. That leaves an extra seat for me and the other pub irregulars.
I could not belive the changes no ambiance like no table cloths, rolled silverware, candles,no salad fork,or bread plate asked for one got it for two people, the prices changed in the entertainment book but not worried for the customer decided to stay and have dinner wrong choice orded the salmon with rice the fish not done the rice very overcooked my guest orded the peppered steak with a famous twiced baked potatoe they were out at 6:25pm on a monday night took the very bad rice served the food with no steak knife used the bread knife. the waitress was not attived and i could not tell you her name so she took off my food and brought the check after she took more orders. I will not ever return!!!!!
