Los Olivos Mexican Patio
Since 1928, Valley residents have flocked here for fajitas, enchiladas, tamales and that favorite border-style breakfast, Huevos Rancheros (eggs smothered in green chile and tomato sauce, served with beans, rice and tortillas). The Mary Lou, a folded cheese crisp that is a true Arizona tradition, makes a great shared appetizer. Mexican and Latin American live music plays on Friday and Saturday nights, Wednesdays feature Swing Time and Mariachis play on Sundays. Check website for more.

My quest for great Mexican food has ended in Scottsdale. This is the place. I had a green corn tamale and chile relleno with rice and beans. I every every last last bite and it was as good as the first bite. This and Pueblo Nuevo in St Louis, Missouri are at the top of my list. My husband was equally impressed. We'll make it a regular stop when we are in the area.
We recently went to lunch at the Los Olivos on 2nd St in Scottsdale. When we walked in, two of the staff were talking at the front desk. They ignored us, so we paused for a bit to see if they would direct us. They did not, so we walked past them to see if someone else would help us. They finally acknowledged us. After we were seated, the waitress came to give us menus and to take our drink order. We were checking the menu and discovered the prices were different on some of the items. When the waitress came by to take our order, we asked about the price difference, she said she had no control over the prices, because the computer had all the prices. We then asked if she could check to see which was correct. She said NO and walked away. At that point, we got up to leave. On our way out, we mentioned what had happened, and we were asked to talk to the manager. We waited a bit to talk to him. We explained the situation to the manager. He did not offer any remedy. All he said was the menu prices should have all been the same and the computer had the correct prices.
The restaurant staff was borderline rude. And it is obvious that they do not care about their customers.
All in all, this was a bad experience
This place is very cozy. The environment is very lively and at the same time mellow. If you get a chance to visit this place, go to the Cantina. It has alot of decor to look at. My family has gone to this place as long as I can remember.
It is nice to see familiar faces each time I visit. The food is great! Service is prompt. If you wanted something specific or prefer a different way the dish is made, they'll hop on it! Don't be fooled by the outside apperance, once you are inside, it's a whole different place.
I would recommend this place to everyone. It is worth the time and money. Their dessert menu is really good, leave some room for that. If you're not up for dessert before you order, make sure you stop a few bites early in case you change your mind. You'll thank me later. :)
I have had several parties there. The Cantina is also a great place to host your party there. They have a wide variety of food they can offer for your party.
Funky decor, fresh-tasting salsas, yummy green corn tamales (mild) and beef machaca (spiced but not hot). Two salsas are on the table to raise the heat as much as you want. Family of four (no drinks) dined here in Jan. 2007 for $35
This is a fine place - it's ok, but i can't figure out why the ratings are like 5-stars. very loud, i thought the music was pretty horrible the day i visited. Food was pretty good - better than average but nothing to scream about. nice value - most dishes somewhere around $10.
