I give the Buca Di Beppo in Chandler a five star rating. We go often, and so far we haven t been disappointed. Their meat sauce is by far the best compared to many other Italian restaurants I frequent, so I seldom order anything else. We have been very happy with the service, but we usually go for lunch or dinner during the work week, and not weekend nights.
Unbelieveable! Sunday afternoon 6/24/12: We ordered Mozzerella Garlic Bread with our drinks. Drinks and salad arrived pretty quickly but no bread. Entrees arrived still no bread. Asked for house bread while waiting for Mozzerella Garlic Bread. After quite some time received a half loaf of bread ripped down the middle! Almost completed with our entrees when some garlic bread (with no mozzerella) was hasilty dropped off. Eventually our server appeared & the garlic bread was taken away. He walked away while I was in mid-sentence to cancel the order. Drink glasses taken away for iced tea refills but not returned for long periods of time. Finally told the server to cancel the Mozzerella Garlic Bread. He billed $8.99 for bread anyway. We had to hunt down the manager (who was also a CHEF? Bizzarre?) to credit our bill. He also gave us $5.99 goodwill credit for the inconvience! LOL! Worst restaurant experience ever. Buca Di Beppo used to be a great restaurant...now it s a good place to go to really test your patience, waste time, and your money!
Not really a person that dines out, my children and I were invited to go to Bucca Di Beppo for dinner. It was a drive I usually would take just to ea, yet I took it anyway. On my way to the place (which is in Chandler and I am in east Mesa), I was thinking to myself, “If the food isn’t good I might just scream”. When I arrived at the lovely restaurant near a lot of other restaurants I would have preferred to go to, a smiled appeared on my face. A restaurant this beautiful must have great food and service. As soon as we stepped inside the lobby there was not a host anywhere in sight, but I guess they saw us. I hear someone to the right of me ask if this was the first time I’ve dining with them, and of course I said “yes”, all the while thinking, “why is there a problem?”. She kindly stated that all the first time diners get a tour through their kitchen. I was gleaming as my children were leaping for joy. She took us through the clean organized kitchen, pointing, and explains everything we passed. The chiefs were friendly and said hi as we walked by. When we came to our booth we would be sitting at the waiter was there to greet us, give us our menus, and take our drink orders. Once we were seated and looking over the menus, not even five minutes later the waiter showed up with our drinks, bread, and some dipping sauce, which was delicious. He then politely asked if we needed another minute to look over our menus, Of course we did. Looking around I noticed that there were many families, yet they had speedy service, so far. We decided to order large spaghetti (which say it feeds up to five adults) for the children and a small order of Parmesan chicken the two adults. While waiting for our food the waiter made sure to keep our drinks filled and bread on the table. So far so good I thought. It took about as long as it takes the chief to cook our food before we got it. Everything seemed to be going so well, until I seen how small the large spaghetti was. Everything looked and tasted lovely, yet it was not fulfilling. When the check came, I didn’t get to see it, but by the look on my cousin’s face it was expensive. I whispered to my cousin, “I could have cooked a meal like that for fewer than twenty dollars.” Over all the service was great, food was delicious, but I was still hungry when I left.
I usually hate... absolutely HATE chain restaurant food!
Buca Di Beppo is the exception. I have been to several different Buca Di Beppo restaurants, and they ALL have consistently great tasting food.
Try the Linguine Frutti Di Mare coupled with a margherita pizza. It's quite a perfect combination.
If you're there on a date, request to sit and eat in the booth inside the kitchen.
We have eaten at this restaurant each time we visit Phoenix. The service is great and the food is excellent. There is plenty to choose from and the portions are enormous. Italian family style eating at its best.
