Ah-So Japanese Restaurant

Description

The Teppanyaki dinners here are true "eatertainment" with the restaurant's talented chefs preparing dishes "before your very eyes" at your table. A respectable selection of sushi is offered, as are some interesting appetizers. Appetizers are reasonably priced and include unusual items like a pickled octopus salad and boiled and seasoned soybeans. Teppanyaki dinners are served with soup, salad, fried rice and vegetables. Also try scallops, shrimp and lobster tails here. Teppanyaki lunches are also available.

I honestly had a little green caterpillar creature in my dinner salad. And it was alive. The owner came over and said that they must not have washed their lettuce that well. Sorry- I will never return!

Food and Fun!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/9/08
My family took me to Ah-So for my birthday and we had a great time. The food is really good and chefs preparing the food are funny and entertaining. The place gets a little busy on the weekends, but it is worth the wait.

this is a fun place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/2/08
Take the family and you will not be dissapointed! They put on a show and the food is really good too! For a small amount you can split a plate of food, and the sushi menu is wonderful. I recommend this for first time sushi eaters or for a birthday.

an entertaining meal
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/6/08
This is a fun place to dine just for the experience. The chefs prepare dishes right at your table and entertain the dinner group in the process. That said, it's far more enjoyable to bring a large group than to sit with strangers. The food is not outstanding, but it does make for a fun dinner.

This place was dirty and we left.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/31/07
I hadn't had Japanese food in some time and was craving it. Dh and I went to get some Tempura shrimp and veggies. First off the waitress was smoking outside at the door and the windows were dirty. We got by this and went inside to find the tables and floors were dirty and the bar had a trash can overfilling with trash. I thought if they don't care enough to clean the place what does the kitchen look like. We were disgusted and left without eating. So I can tell you we didn't try the food, nor would we want to in such a dirty place. We went around 2:00Pm so I suppose if you went in the evening when you can't see the dirt then you probably thinks it's okay. Yuck.

Ah So is ohhhh soooo good!
By L.A., 1/7/07
We LOVE Ah So at Gilbert & Baseline! Consistently great food in a fun atmosphere -- what more could we ask for? Filet Mignon is like butter, and shrimp teppanyaki is superb. We've had filet at Ruth's Chris and Morton's, and the filet at Ah So is just as tender and flavorful. Chefs are wonderful and friendly. We feel like family at Ah So. We go there AT LEAST every 2 weeks, or whenever the cravings won't subside. Sometimes we just need our Ah So fix :-)

love it!!
By Theresa, 12/1/06
The west valley needs a great Japanese restaurant. Thank goodness for Ah So! To bad with 2 locations so close to eachother, it would have been better to spread the love. We prefer this over Benihana in Scottsdale for Tepanyaki, you dont have the hour long wait (and that was with a reservation)..And the food is delish and not over seasoned and to "Americanized". It is a nice family place. This is where we go when we want to bring the kids with us. If it is adults only, and we are dressed up, we head over to Sapporo in Scottsdale, it is more upscale. As far as food: They are both excellent. Ah So has a nice lunch menu. You can get teppan yaki entrees for less! you just don't get a salad, with it..big deal. Soup is not served with spoons..so be prepared to pick it up like a latte cup. I always tip the chef and the server.
