I am sorry, I can not concur with those who praise Golden Valley. We were there on June 30, 2012 and my sweet and sour chicken pieces were quite hard. I didn't complain, should have. Also they had precious few vegetables in there. I would expect more vegetables in it. Just a few thin strips of possibly carrot and some onions. The larger chicken pieces I could not eat because I could not cut them with a fork and I was issued no knife-they were too big for one bite! My wife says they were overcooked...as she tried one. I just let it go. It's really easy to overcook chicken. I NEVER had sweet and sour chicken be anything but great at any other Chinese Restaurant, including The Peking Gourmet in suburban Virginia, where George Herbert Walker Bush once ate. If you ever get back there, it's on Route 7 just northwest of Bailey's Crossroads in Falls Church. I give Golden Valley an F on my dinner.
The best Sweet & sour chicken ever! We have been going to Golden valley for for 18 years! we lived around the corner. It has always been the best service I have ever received and the owner Tom remember us from day one by name and what we eat and how we like our food. I have found this is true for most of his customers. It is the favorite place for most of our police department and firemen. My husband loves the egg rolls . I can highly suggest sweet and sour chicken and orange chicken. The triple delight is really good and I love the fried rice! They have been consistent for all the years we have been coming there with the same great food. We now live 12 miles away but it still is the only place we get Chinese. Worth the trip! Thanks Tom for years of great food and awesome service! Della
Great! Awesome! Tom is the best!! Fabulous service, and food that can't be beat...we have relatives that come from the East Coast and it's always on our list of places to go. Best Chinese Food ever!!!!
Absolutely the best Chinese food I have ever had. I am just sorry it took us so long to find it. We have lived around the corner for 4 years without knowing about this hidden secret but know we attend lunch or dinner at least once a week. I think the big Chinese buffets have kept most people from going to the Golden Valley. However, here the prices are better than the big buffets and whatever you order will be more than you can eat and the food is so much better than those overcooked buffets...trust me you will love it!
Tom is a wonderful host and chef. Every dish is excellent. For outstanding food and personal service you can expect a relaxing and pleasant dining experience. Each dish is plentiful and inexpensive. We are regular customers and have been for years.
The general tsoas chicken was terrible. It tasted like someone took old chicken and covered it with ketchup and a-1 steak sauce. I reccomend that the cooks go eat at any other chinese restaraunt in america and taste the food and take some pointers. In no way did this taste or smell like anything labled general tsoa's that I have ever had. I literally threw away three full orders even though we were still hungry. Crab puffs were ok but its hard to mess those up. Even the soy was flavorless. Never again.
Picked this place b/c it had 5-Star rating. How the heck did they get that? HORRIBLE. My meal smelled so bad I didn't even eat it. Co-worker order same meal (General Tsao's Chicken) and said it was as bad as it smelled. Not even close to what it should taste like.
