Best Indian Restaurant in the Valley!!!!
I have been a weekly customer at this restaurant for the past 11yrs. We absolutely love this place!!!! We have always got piping hot food , the quantities are generous, the service is personalized. My two kids (10&7 yrs old) will not eat Indian food anywhere else. The owners are very attentive to your preferences and will customize almost anything to your palate.Very family friendly place!!!!!
Never had koorma with lemon grass! I dont like lemon grass - thats why I eat Indian. When before did you have peas and nuts in pilau rice? Havent had a indina meal for over a year and was looking forward to it - but sadly dissapointed.
The food here is exquisite! I use to live in Chandler, but moved to Tucson for school, but I will still come up to Phoenix just for the indian food at Star of India. I have tried many indian restaurants in Tucson, as well as New York and none of the food even compares to the dishes served at Star of India. The service is wonderful and the dishes are perfection. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for amazing indian cuisine.
It sucks, Worst food ever I ate so far. We went for dinner and ordered tandoori chicken. They fried leftover chicken from lunch( God knows if it leftover from lunch that day or previous days) and served us. There are hardly any customers eating there when we went. That explains the quality of their food.
One of the places to avoid dining out,
Indian food enthusiasts will love the food here. Try the butter chicken, ask for white meat only (it's devine). Also try the curry chicken - it was really flavorful. We also tried the spinach dish (which was ok). We came from Silicon Valley where authentic Indian food was on almost every corner. Star of India in Ahwatukee is on par with the greats in the bay area.
PS - we aren't about buffets. Go for dinner. And we also did the take-out and didn't eat in the place.
The best Indian food in the whole of Phoenix. We have catered from Preet(the owner) for all of my son's birthday parties. It doesn't matter if we order for 10 or 50, the food is always awesome. The price is reasonable too. I would recommend it to all my friends.
A little history, the Star of India used to be a great restaurant about 7 years ago. It was a very popular in the Ahwautukee Foothills and Chandler area. The chef and his wife left to be a part owner of Royal Taj indian restaurant in Tempe. This is why people have complained about the food recently. The old cooks left.
Also, a little tip for non-Indians, don't go to the buffet. Indians typically don't go to the buffets because the food is bland (for non-Indians) and old. They put the worst rice and the leftovers from the previous night in the buffer. If you want to truly test a restaurant, go at night.
