Been going there for over 10 years the ladies that own the place are ALWAYS Pleasant and very friendly and helpful. And the food and deli goods are very good the best Ive found in Phoenix period.
Great place and great staff, I have taken people there that knew nothing of German food and the ladies always take the time to talk the new people thru the choices and often provide samples of the deli goods so NO one gets something they wont like.
Got a hankering for some german food, found this place in phoenix (one of very few), very small place, owners acted uptight, not too friendly, very limited selection tasted real good, but very, very pricey - honestly i'd rather drive the 4 hrs to Los Angeles with a cooler for bigger selections and decent prices - I won't go back to this one!
Excellent authentic German groceries, lunchmeats, sausages as well as the cheeses. The Deli has an ambiance of Germany's old days, reminds me of home every time I shop there. The service is great, and the luncheons are delicious, just like home. It's definitely worth a trip.
Excellent authentic German food, quaint, clean little place right off the busy road. A true deli - where the meat and cheese counters take up most of the store just like they used to in the good old days. Anyone looking for some delicious Sausages, Cheese and Kraut this is a must stop! I am glad I found this little place - so now when I come to Phoenix it will be HoneyBear BBQ and the Edelweiss German Deli!! The owner is actually FROM Germany - how many ethnic store owners these days can actually say that ! - she is very nice and has some great stories if you take the time to listen! I am not sure what peskypoodle's problem is - perhaps they just don't get us Germans tell it like it is attitude - we are not rude.. just to the point. I had a great meal and a great time.... I will be back! D
We have been here twice. Looking for German made products we found the basic minimum.
The Deli is run by two old women who aren't very welcoming at all. In fact they are quite rude - customer service isn't their strong point. If you are interested in specific goods such as Dr Oetker and Vegeta products you will find them. The deli cuts aren't particularly fresh and the spec meat looks old and very dry. But their homestyle bread is good.
Store hours state they close at 5.30pm, the second and last time we went there it was 5.15pm, we walked in the door and were told we are closed. They obviously don't care about customer service or making some money. We will not be going there again.
Not worth looking for, so don't go out of your way, the goods they do stock are overpriced.
Small but nice selection of German imported foods (canned, boxed, etc.). One or two tables, very simple. We ordered a luncheon sandwich and ended up with 2 sandwiches apiece, unbelievable taste! Stuffed ourselves and couldn't stop. Nice deli selection, AWESOME fresh-daily breads and wonderful sliced imported breads (pumpernickel, sunflower, pumpkin). We recommend a visit.
