Pasta Jay's, Moab

We went to Pasta Jay's with our family of 4 kids and were pleasantly surprised. All Kids meals are $5 with our kids receiving generous portions of spaghetti & meatballs. The thin crust pizza is very simple but excellent. I had the fettucine alfredo and it was some of the best I've ever had. The house salad was a $5 add on and was rather pathetic...maybe worth $2 with a meal. I was miffed at the 20% automatic gratuity for our party of six--I've never been anywhere that did an automatic grat for less than eight. However, the service was good and my starving kids received their food quickly. Good food with great portions...great alternative for the always slammed Pizza Hut in town!

I have made it a point to eat at Pasta Jays every year we go down to the car show, but the last two years have been a disappointment. The pasta and the pizza are good, but I have been charged both times 20% gratuity each time for a party of four and the service has been lousy. This last visit was the final straws when I observed several groups get sat down, served, and left before I even got my lunch and no drink re-fill. I adjusted the gratuity on this bill to 3%, but they still charged my card for the full 20%. After several phone calls to talk to the manager have gone un-answered I will not be back... Sorry guys you had your chance…

The first day we got to Moab, we walked around town and happened to pass Pasta Jays. It smelled so good walking by that we decided to eat there the next day for dinner. The atmosphere was very romantic, yet casual and we decided to sit outside on the patio. I ordered the veggie canelloni that also came with garlic bread. The dish was piping hot when it arrived. The garlic bread was also very fresh and had a great flavor. The canelloni was appealing with the cheeses bubbling and the tomato sauce chunky. The taste was wonderful and fresh. It was the best pasta I have had in weeks. I also tested my friends' spinach and artichoke raviolli. That too was very hot, and tasted awesome. The dining area was clean, and service was great. The only downside to Pasta Jay's is there limited drink menu. However, next time I am in Moab, UT I will definitely go back to Pasta Jay's. It was my favorite restaurant of the whole trip.
