Grove Market

Description

Grove Market was constructed and founded by Greek immigrant, Pete Savas, in 1947. The original business idea was for a neighborhood grocery/produce store in which Peteac2s children could all learn to manage as they grew. After Peteac2s passing in 1953, his family took over full operation of the store and continue to this day. In response to growing competition the family decided to create additional services to the neighborhood corner-store in the early 1970s.

The store is a little cramped, especially around lunch. The building is small, but the sandwiches are huge, and what's more, delicious. The place has a huge influx of customers during lunch time because of this. Calling your order in early is a good idea. The further away you arrive from noon, the better. The place gets packed, (but typical for good food in the area at lunch, Joni's is the same way). I lived near there for a while and ate there frequently, moved away for three years and craved their chicken salad the whole time, and was delighted when I moved back the owner recognized me still. Seating is outside, long waits at lunch hour, but the best sandwiches in the world and an entire aisle of hot sauce! Now I'm craving again, and I need to go get one.

Groves is hands-down the best sandwich place I've ever been to. I've been going for years and can't get enough of their tasty food. The staff is awesome and down to earth. You are treated like family at Groves! This place is a hidden treasure!

Worst Customer Service !!!!!!
By ,
I have been going to groves for years. My father first toke me there when I was 16. They have always (sandwich makers) had a rude deminer to them. You put up with it because of the sandwich. Today I had to deal with the worst customers service of my life! I phoned in an order before noon. Knowing how long it takes to wait in line to get a sandwich and I work at south end of the valley. The lady said my sandwich would be ready at 12:45 over a hour wait. I say ok I go pick up a cleint and take him to pick up your sandwich to take back to the office. Well I show up a bit early, around 10 mins early in hopes that they got it done early instead. I am greeted with a rude remark. Then told either wait til the time we told you or get in line. I choose to wait for my alloted time. 12:45 comes and goes with me waiting at the counter. To the side and in front of the dark haired sandwich market seeing me the whole time. I ask at 12:50 is my sandwich ready he told me to get in line. I have now waited 20mins and have phoned in my order over a hour early. This is not the first time I have been treated rude. In fact every time they are rude at some level. If there customer service was half as good as the sandwich this would be a nice place. It's sad like I said my father toke me there many years ago and I have been a customer of there sence then but no longer! Needless to say i leftthere and went to subway had a sandwich for me and my cleint in 5 mins and was treated with respect! Sad to say it this mom and pop store need a big overhaul! If you like a good sandwich but like to be treated rude I say go for it get a sandwich there. But if you think customer service counts the I say don't go there!!!
