Blue Iguana, Salt Lake City

Just got back from there for a going away party for a coworker. All I can say is NEVER again. We had a party of 10 and the first patrons there. I had to go look for the waitress to take our order. When the water and chips were they never were refilled. She showed up to take our order, bring us our food and finally after going up front she brought our bills to the table. It took 10 mins just to try to pay my bill. I asked to speak to the manager and when he came out and I explained the situation and how unhappy I was, all he said was sorry and that I should check out SL Weekly to get future buy one get one 1/2 off. Seriously dude??? First and last visit for me.

I made the mistake of not checking the reviews before going here the other night. I should have known when we walked in. The restaurant smelled of chlorine. A sure sign of a sanitation problem. I should have walked out then. But we didn't. The service was horrible. The chips were stale. The drinks were bland. The tacos were soggy. Stay away from this place. It should be inspected by the Health Department. Maybe they will close it. STAY AWAY.

I agree with JudgeJake. Went there, service was terrible, food was worse and it was empty. Red Iguana for me, all the way.

What happened? This used to be one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the area. So last night my wife and I decided to head back there as we hadn't been to the Blue Iguana in at least a year or so. I hate to say this, but it was terrible. The service was fine, and we both enjoy the atmosphere. But the food was beyond bad. Neither of us came even close to finishing our plates (you could tell the waitress was a bit surprised). The food tasted generic and stale. My wife commented that it tasted old, like it had been sitting out for a couple of days. We also noticed that the restaurant wasn't very packed for a Friday night, especially with the Utah Jazz playing a home game just 2 blocks away. I'd like to say this was a one-time thing, but my work ordered Blue Iguana for us for dinner a few weeks ago, and it was just as bad. I was hoping that it was just due to the delivery time, but no. Eating in was as bad as take-out. Please get whatever you had back! Maybe management changed, but we'll certainly not be giving B.I. another try for at least a couple of years.

We really like this family friendly place. The tacos and enchiladas are always good and we watch for the buy 1 get 1 free entree coupons in the mail. Very yummy fried ice cream.

WE have eaten at both Blue Iguana and Red Iguana. Don't know why thr Red gets voted best of each year. We both feel the Blue Iguana is so much better. Better Food , Better Atmosphere, Better Mole, and Better Service. Can't wait to go back. Sharon

Have dined at this restaurant for nearly 3 years weekly. The quality of service and food is excellent.

I had never been to the Blue Igauna before and wasn't sure what to expect. But it was some good food and and great service as well. A Salt Lake Treasure!

Our food was excellent and price is unbelieviably low for a downtown restaurant. We enjoyed the singers. There were ten people in our group and we all agree the Blue Iguana is one of the best Mexican Restaurant's we have experienced.
