This restaurant features excellent Japanese food in a comfortable, traditional atmosphere. Patrons can eat in the beautifully decorated dining room or in one of the private rooms with sunken tables. The extensive menu features a full sushi bar as well as a variety of other traditional Japanese entrees. This restaurant is known for its tempura dishes and for teriyaki salmon, both of which are always light and fresh. Beer and wine are available with meals. Dine in or take-out.
I found Koyo to be a surprising treat. It is off the beaten path of downtown, but worthy of the trip and close to the freeway. The food was exceptional. I've traveled through Japan and found koyo's food to be similar to the home style cooking of Japan. If you want excellent traditional Japanese food and escape the yuppie sushi bars go to Koyo.
