back in the day i was a poor starving college student and i worked at the brick oven bistro (back then beanery). flash forward a few years and im still addicted to the place. i now have a 5 yr old little girl and she loves it when i take her there. the food is home cooked and to die for. not greasy or fried. large portions and sooo good. their vegetarian sandwiches are my personal fav (the other is the club)..their potato salad is amazing and their pepper parmesan dressing is out of this world!my daughter loves being able to watch them make the food and loves sitting ou tside on their awesome patio.the other thing i love about this place, is that most days you can see owner stephanie running around working. its amazing to see her helping and wanting her business to do well after all these years. if you havent been there yet, go now!!!! best place in boise to eat with out a doubt. suzy p

Best Place Ever! Every time I pass through I have to stop in for a bite! In the heart of downtown Boise it's the best location to sit on the patio eat some delicious food and have a beer. I'd recommend getting any of the Open Face sandwiches, it's your choice of meat on bread, mash potatoes and stuffing, covered in gravy! Not a typical sandwich but man is it good. Oh and if you have room after one of those babies, get the best milkshake of all time! Banana Fosters!

I have eaten here many times in as many years. The food is consistently very good and very reasonably priced relative to the bigger picture....those who travel. During my last visit I tried their Sunday special pork roast dinner....it was to die for. The pork they use is second to none. I left in digestive bliss.

I've tried this place twice. Food is ordinary at best, and not very tasty. A Boise tradition, but I've never been able to figure out why.

Overpriced and unhealthy
By luisa, 11/26/07
I had a small bowl of soup, a veggie sandwich and a glass of water (not bottled) and my total came to nearly $9 before the tip. The food was very heavy and greasy - even the sandwich had at least 3 sauces on it - and there were virtually no vegetarian options. This might be good for someone with money to burn, no regard for his/her health and a hankering for gravy, because nearly everything is covered in it.

LOVE IT!
By Michelle, 10/30/06
We have been going here for years! Love the food! Like they say "Home cooking when you can't be home cooking"! We think it is great for families, dates or business lunches. You really ought to try it!

A Boise Classic!
By Jennifer, 7/29/05
The food is fantastic--rustic and homecooked. The service is consistently excellent, and once you've been a couple of times, you feel like family. Can't beat it for a place that will make you feel at home.
