Merritt's Country Cafe
Little has changed at this side-of-the-road cafe, and, but one thing is for sure, neither have its famous scones. Typical deli sandwiches, soups and salads are consumed here, but if you would like to unleash the sugar-tooth fairy, try a scone - powdered-sugar, fruit and honey are just a few of the options. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this restaurant never closes. Leave the cell phone and laptop at home, but bring plenty of quarters for the jukebox.
i went merritts and waited 57 min. for my fries and a drink and never got my order, at that point i asked how long was going to be till i got my order and they didnt know so i had left, when i did so i was then yelled at by a lady that worked there about how rude i was for leaving... although i have to say waiting 57 min. for a drink and fires is really don't think this is ok.... i don't care who you are... i would never suggest to anyone to go to this restaurant...
Merritt's was one of the best restaurants in town until the daughter Mary Merritt bought and started to run it. I went to get some breakfast the other day and all the employees looked like they had been beaten by a ravenous dog. Then I hear the angelic sound of the Owner Mary belittling and screaming at one of the cooks. And she wonders why her food has gone down hill, you are only as good as your employees and how they are treated will show in your product. I have noticed the portions are smaller also. OH Merritts of the past were did you go and can you take the merritt's of the present with you.
The biggest thing about the place that i love is the friendly staff and the relaxed atmosphere. You cant miss its good home cookin and of course THE SCONES! I love goin in there spending a little and getting ALOT!!! Two thumbs up!
