The two of us had dinner on 9 December 1010. This was my first visit to Fong's. We were pleased. The food was good and plentiful. It was worth the price. The lighting could have been dimmed a little, but this all the rest was fine.
Fong's, for the most part, is a little Chinese eatery in rural America. The staff work hard, the food isn't too bad. General Tsao's chicken is very good. I also like the Sesame Chicken. The Mongolian beef is also one of the better items on the menu. We aren't talking PF Chang's here, but if you want a lot of food, at a reasonable price, that is good, the for Rexburg Fong's is the place to go.
The food is OK. However, I witnessed with my own eyes one of the employees use the bathroom, not wash their hands and then went back in the kitchen. I was so disgusted that we left right away. Later my cousin told me she would never eat there because she saw an employee pick their nose! Ewe! Needless to say, if you don't mind feces and buggers in your food you'd like it!
The food isn't bad, it's just not the Chinese Food I'm used to. They only have 1 sauce that is used over the same kind of breaded chicken for every dish. The fried rice is pretty good, but that could just be because I haven't had REAL chinese food in such a long time.
Well its the only place in town. The food is GREASY, and overpriced. But like others said if your dying for Chinese then you don't have a choice. Although there is a wonderful Tai place on Main that totally rocks and is way better than Fongs. What I can't get is why they opened another place on Second ST? They were rarely full at their other place.
I love (American) Chinese food and have eaten it all my life, as much as I can get. I even went to China for 7 months and experienced real Chinese food.
I ate at Fong's a few times in 2004 and it was just okay, but when I came back to school in 2006, the taste had definatel gone downhill somehow!
My husband hated it and said he never wanted to go again. The food was either bland, or straight up bad tasting; and the service wasn't that great either.
If you do go, try sticking with something like sweet and sour chicken, or fried rice or something.
Lastly, I would have to say how dissapointed I am that they still don't even have my favorite hot and sour soup!
