the supposed "jackson local" below obviously is not a real local. El Abuelito's is fast, no matter how busy they are your food is ready in less than twenty mins. they have AMAZING food, and despite having English as a second language the wait staff speaks great English and they give great service. just thought I would correct the supposed "local"

I'm not the type to review restaurants online. That should tell you just how bad this restaurant is! I'm a local, but haven't tried this place since the first day it opened years ago... and everyone at my work hated it then, but we all assumed it would get better over the years. It's gotten worse! I went with my family this time. "Gross!" was the first word my husband said after biting into his bean and cheese burrito for the first time. We were all shocked that the refried beans were bright Orange! Just like Taco Bell, but tasted worse! I had a beef burrito filled with orange beans and uncooked shredded beef. I only took one bite also. I am shocked to see how many good reviews this place has gotten online, that is what prompted me to write this review at all. from reading other reviews, I assume people in southern states might be used to the orange refried beans, and huge chunks of carrots in everything... but I'm from LA, where the Mexican food is Outstanding, the refried beans are Brown, like they should be, and we are able to eat the meal we paid for! This food was absolutely HORRIBLE!!! Combo plates range $15 on up too, so save your money people!!! Another thing is the bad seating arrangement. their booths are right next to the others, so you are sitting shoulder to shoulder with complete strangers... which makes you have to whisper throughout the meal. We felt like we were in an episode of "Curb your Enthusiasm". Total lack of privacy! I was tempted to leave just being seating. I've never experienced that lack of privacy at a restaurant before. They have a huge empty space in the middle of the floor, they should really think about rearranging their seating to give customers some privacy. The waitress was nice, but never took our drink order and never used a paper and pen, just memorized everything... which always makes me nervous. We were served drinks after spitting out our only bites of our meals. One plus: the hamburgers and fries here are Tasty!! My kids each ordered this, and we were able to share with them. I'm a long time local and frequent the other Mexican food restaurants in town all the time, that are much more authentic. If you are looking for tasty Mexican food in Jackson Hole, try "Sanchez" (mostly take-out, but Ooooh so good), "El Gordito" (one of our favs!! just like the food you get in Mexico!) or "Merry Piglets", a sit down place right off the town square! All of these places serve Yummy Mexican food that even the kids will enjoy!

The place looks like an El Torito inside but the food is much better. The chips and salsa is so good, make sure you don't fill up before dinner! They have a large menu including combo plates but you can't go wrong with the steak ranchero or their shrimp enchiladas. Great Mexican eating in the middle of Wyoming!

Great Margaritas. Amazing chips and salsa. Not the most healthy food available, but really really yummy.

We ate here on our vacation in June. Not the friendliest place but we liked the food and it was easy to park. I loved the cheese chile relleno and the rice and beans. We would return on future vacations.

I moved to Wyoming from San Diego, where I used to live near the Mexican border. Living there I was very used to authentic Mexican food. All I can say, is thank goodness for Abuelitos - I could not live here without them! They have authentic and wonderful Mexican food, great margaritas, and excellent service. Who would know we were 1100 miles from the border?
