This is my FIRST negative review! We visited Yellowstone and there were wildfires in the park that totally changed our plans. Two of the major roads were closed and we could not get anythere close to the northern areas. The lady at the front desk was TOTALLY unsympathetic. First of all, she had to be woken up by the restaurant staff, at the request of a customer, at 9am for the guest to check out. She was obviously not happy, because she came in the restaurant and very loudly complained to the restaurant staff, in front of all the customers, about the guest. Then when we tried to discuss our change of plans, she was toatlly uninterested, had a crappy attitude and was only concerned with getting her money. The TV romote did not work. The room looked clean enough, but there were two mouse traps in the room. This did not leave us with a very comfortable feeling while trying to sleep. We brought a couple of small food items in the room, and worried all night about it attracting the mouses. There were not any amenities in the room. For the price we paid, I would expect something! We ended up leaving, still getting charged full price for the room and found another place to stay that was more convenient to the detours we had to make because of the fires. I would not recommend this place to stay. The man at the restaurant was very nice, but the lady at the office was horrible!!
Located near Grand Teton and Yellowstone the Hatchet was a great spot to base our national park trip. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The front desk staff had great ideas on where to go and see wildlife as well as activities. We were there early in the season and unfortunatly the restaurant wasn't open yet. I woud highly recomment the Hatchet Resort.
We planned a July 2005 wedding at the Hatchet Resort in Moran, Wyoming. Being originally from Wyoming I had knowledge on the Jackson area. The Hatchet was perfect for privacy, and our guests accomadations along with our own suite. The grounds are amazing and very rustic yet modern buildings cover the grounds. With great food, helpful staff, the Hatchet truly made our day a memorable one. The planning we had to go through with them was annoying. My advise is ask for all details when organizing your special day. From extra costs, to how tips will be paid. I was angered many times dealing with them via telephone and email. But when we arrived the Hatchet was perfect. The Whetstone is the most amazing building and our guests raved on the location and the overall wedding. We are planning on going back for our one year anniversary summer 2006.
The view of the Tetons from the resort is breathtaking! Located just outside Grand Teton National Park away from the crowds but with easy access to both parks. Rooms are historic log construction. Neat and tidy. Restaurant and fine dining are better than anything inside the park.
