Village Smithy Restaurant
A legendary tradition in the Roaring Fork Valley since 1975, the Village Smithy is everyone's choice for the best breakfasts available in the region. The food is delicious and the staff is exceptionally friendly. An old sign in the restaurant says is all: We reserve the right to serve everyone. Our popular breakfast dishes run the gamut from familiar favorites, like our Applewood Bacon & Egg to the delightfully unexpected Fresh Spinach and Wild Mushroom omelette. For lunch, we have a fine selection of entree salads, sandwiches, burgers and Mexican dishes. The Asian Chicken Salad with its homemade Tarmari dressing has been a local's favorite for years. Our large open air deck, surrounded by gardens, will make it hard for you that want to leave. The fresh air will let you soak up the beautiful fresh Colorado's Rocky Mountain atmosphere. Come experience our passion for Breakfast and Lunch!!!
The Village Smithy was recommended by a friend who lives in Vail. She told us to drive through the Gorge to Glenwood Springs for a spectacularly beautiful ride, then on to Carbondale for lunch at the village Smith. My husband was a bit skeptical that a 130 mile roundtrip for lunch was worth it. Half-way through the Gorge he was a believer in the beautiful ride, and half way through a delicious lunch he was ready to make a return trip the next time we are in Colorado. We each had one of their special lunches, and both were delicious. The staff was casual, cheerful, and helpful. The food was delicious, and the enormous desserts, Colorado Peach, and Banana Cream pie were over the top. Bravo to the Village Smithy!
The Village Smithy is one of the highlights of my trips out of town with my children. As a restaurant cook myself I look for every detail of the operation. The staff is friendly, the service has always been great, the establishment is very clean (I'm a clean freak) and the food has never been less than over the top. The portions are large, but not so outrageously wasteful that you feel guilty that it is too much food. Some restaurants think that more is better, but I have found that Smithy's thinks better is better and you will not leave hungry.
