Food is amazing - if you are looking for Authentic French- look no further, this is your restaurant in Vail. I was blown away by the service, the unbelievable wine selection, the overall French experience and of course the chocolate souffle is to die for! I highly recommend this restaurant for a French evening you will never forget!

The most disappointing restaurant I have been to for some time. The food was acceptable- the quality of most dishes being at a level you would expect from a decent restaurant, however the service was astonishingly bad. So bad that it totally overshadowed the entire experience and prevented any of us enjoying our meal. From the long waits between any waiting staff coming near the table to the sneering unsmiling way in which I and my guests were treated I have to say this is some of the worst service I have ever received in a restaurant. We were ignored when we arrived and asked for our table (despite having booked and the restaurant being only half full) and after being seated were then again ignored for five minutes. All members of the waiting staff from the management down stormed about the dining room looking furious about having to deal with the diners. There was one smiling waitress who spilled cream over one of our party and she was a breath of fresh air (in terms of her attitude rather than her competence). When spending over $120 a head I expect at the very least some level of efficiency and courtesy from the waitresses in a restaurant. The food was mostly decent and it was a shame to have it ruined by very poor unfriendly service. As a word of advice I would suggest that the loud scraping of leftovers from plates be carried out the kitchen rather than being done beside the diners in the restaurant, it doesn't help when you are trying to enjoy a meal. I would never consider returning and would urge other visitors to enjoy the many very fine restaurants in Vail rather than spending several hours being ignored and looked down on in The Left Bank.

Wow this place is disgusting. Worst service i've ever experienced and dirty dishes. Horrible food and drink. I don't think that anybody cleaned the tables from the last person to eat at them. Do yourself a favor and choose somewhere else.

Beautiful French cuisine
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/6/06
Owners Jean-Michel & Kimberly Chelain have presided over their beautiful kingdom of high-end French cuisine since coming to Vail. The Left Bank is probably one of the place where you still can find elegance! The wine list is emmense, yet easy to navigate. With Jean Michel and Kimberly as the owners, they have not forgotten the personal touch as Chef and Matridee, respectively. A lot of restaurants look and taste the same after a certain time but it's alway a pleasure to back to The Left Bank especially at the beginning of summer. The food is fresh and always taste right. The service is impeccable, absolutely perfect!!!

Left Bank Delivered
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/22/06
Magnifique!!! I had read great reviews, but I feared both a tourist trap and/or unjust attitude, particularly in light of how much we like both Sweet Basil and Larkspur. I was pleasantly surprised by a visit from the chef, excellent food and great service. It was pricey, but no regrets. Our only complaint was that the lighting is a little too bright for this type of restaurant. It was in sharp contrast to the abuse we suffered at Los Amigos the next evening.

Left Bank- as good as it gets
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/7/04
Vail has many fine restaurants; none are better than the Left Bank and few can equal it. Luc and Liz are chef and hostess as well as owners, and are always there to insure the highest of standards. The menu is posted by the entrance to the Sitzmark Lodge, and has an english description of each entre. Go in and take a look at the bar and restaurant, if the menu hasn't convinced you the warmth and charm of the place will. The art on the walls is also impressive. The wine list is massive but easy to navigate, and has very reasonably priced wines selected by Luc to go with each entre. You will also find the finest wines there are. The service is helpful and attentive but not oppressively formal, and the pace of the meal can be what you ask for. Careful though, the Left Bank is addictive.
