La Tour Restaurant & Bar
La Tour Restaurant has been voted the best restaurant in Vail since 2006 by the Vail Daily Readers Poll and is conveniently located in the heart of Vail Village directly across from the west-end of the Vail Village Parking Structure.Chef Paul Ferzacca's modern French-American cuisine is famous in the Vail dining scene. Utilizing the best organic, natural and sustainable products available, La Tour is known as the restaurant "Where the chefs eat."
I disagree with other reviews who thought it was their best meal in Vail. I thought the food was good but definitely have had better in Vail. My daughter ordered the Dover sole and it came swimming in butter. She returned it and ordered a chicken dish which was dry and tasteless. The menu is not large so I would expect what they serve, they should serve well. It is pricey but I have to say the service was excellent. The server and host were wonderful, however, during our visit the chef was not.
Also, this was not just a one night issue, we have dined here a few times hoping it would get better. Unfortunately it didn't for me.
Good place in general. Nice atmosphere and very good location in Vail Village. The expense is the major downside but you are in Vail so everything is expensive. La Tour is still on the high side even for expensive places. I had their Caesar salad which I though was ok, but another in our party raved about it. I also had the ravoli which again I though was good, but others in our party raved about their entrees. So in general the restaurant seemed to be a crowd pleaser and the atmosphere and service were very good.
La Tour is probably one of the place where you still can find some creativity!
As a local, lot of restaurant look and taste the same after a certain time but it's alway a pleasure to back to La Tour espacially at the end of the summer in the front dinning room. The food is fresh and always taste right. The service can be tricky but nobody's perfect!
