Hickory House, Aspen

Love the Hickory House!!! My family ate here three times during our one-week stay in Aspen/ Snowmass. Great down-home food, nice (and very ecclectic) staff, generous portions and drink refills. LOVED the brisket and rib combos (was in heaven)!!!! Only real issue was parking; their lot is tiny and can be a headache to get in/out of those tight spaces. Definitely double-check street parking signs or carpool (best idea, since a bbq coma is mandatory)!

Very casual dining experience. Excellent ribs, portions were good, service was good, and the prices are downright cheap by Aspen standards.

The food was average as far as barbacue meals go...the main problem we had was with the service. The waitress we had serving us seemed very overwhelmed the some what busy atmosphere and they moved us from our original table after already seating us...will not go back ever.

As advertised, the baby back ribs were outstanding. I've actually had better barbecue beans in Tampa. The salad was fair. Prices are decent for Aspen. Service was attentive and better than average. Nice large screen TV to watch for Monday night football. Get there early because The Hickory House doesn't take reservations and it is a relatively small place.

Hickory House has the best ribs in the world. Tender, tasty and lots of sides come with it. Baked potatoes, baked beans. It's a bbq lover's dream.

I thought the chicken was every bit as good as the ribs which were the best I ever had. The value was there and you can tell these people care about what they do and are proud of it.

I've been eating at Hickory house on my frequent vacations to Aspen for the past 30+ years. These are some of the best ribs that I have ever had, and all of the food is good. I'm not crazy about the BBQ sauce, but the food doesn't really need it. Also, serve a very reliable breakfast. Moreover, I also got married in Aspen last summer and had the Hickory House cator a party for me at the Aspen Center for Enviromental Studies (ACES) for 80 people. The food and friendly service they provided helped to make the party a huge success - and all at an extremely reasonable price.

The ribs are smoked, grilled and lightly sauced. They fall off the bone but maintain their integrity. Not like those mushy, boiled or steamed ribs by folks trying to fake it.
