Few, if any, Aspen restaurants can match Mezzaluna for its combination of great food and a lively bar scene. But it is this fusion that makes it so popular and prompted Gourmet Magazine to rank it as one of the top three restaurants in Aspen. The interior is Los Angeles hip: marble tables, big glass windows and tall potted plants. If you can secure a window table it is a great perch for people watching both inside and outside. If you covet booze-addled Happy Hours this is the place to go. The entrees feature an array of pasta, fish and meat dishes. There is also an audacious selection of avant-garde pizzas including one that features French onion with Swiss cheese and smoked bacon.
I had the Penne with Rock shrimp in a citrus cream sauce and it was amazing. My girlfriend had the peppered tuna salad and that was excellent also. Nice place that is casual and has very affordable prices for Aspen.
My daughter and I went to Mezzaluna on a Sunday night. The place was about half full and we were seated immediately without reservations. We shared a spinach ravioli special ($16) with a ceasar salad ($8.5). I had a glass of Pinot Noir ($7.5). Our server was pleasant but my water glass remained empty a little too long. Overall, I will probably go back from some decent Italian food the next time I visit Aspen.
We just wanted somewhere light and our hotel recommended the bar food here. What a bargain. Great salad and wood oven pizza, plus wonderful house wine.
A favorite of locals, at least off season. The bartender was joy to watch, an efficient machine filling orders for a busy dining room, yet she made sure we were taken care of.
Sorry to say it was awful! I was there for NYE and it was $175pp and the food was unedible. I understand its NYE but that was disappointing to walk out with a $795.00 bill for 3 and had to go to McDonalds later.
