Mezza Luna

Description

Few, if any, Aspen restaurants can match Mezzaluna for its combination of great food and a lively bar scene. But it is this fusion that makes it so popular and prompted Gourmet Magazine to rank it as one of the top three restaurants in Aspen. The interior is Los Angeles hip: marble tables, big glass windows and tall potted plants. If you can secure a window table it is a great perch for people watching both inside and outside. If you covet booze-addled Happy Hours this is the place to go. The entrees feature an array of pasta, fish and meat dishes. There is also an audacious selection of avant-garde pizzas including one that features French onion with Swiss cheese and smoked bacon.

Pleasant and fun restaurant, especially outdoors. Bar scene dominates indoors, so be prepared to shout to be heard. Pizza is better than average and psta dishes were a little more creative and tasty. Marguerita was best I have had in Aspen.

Great casual restaurant to enjoy the people watching. We sat outside on a sunny afternoon and the ambiance was great. Service was friendly, but very slow. The food was very nice.

Sat outside on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I had a few Margarita's, the crab cakes and the three Fromage pizza. No complaints. I think I walked out after a lunch for two for around $75. A pleasent setting and a nice rest after a hike up the Ute trail.

Good pizzas in a convenient spot. This is an excellent place to take your group for low key apres eats.

Great location, fantastic food
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/9/08
Located at the base of Aspen Mountain, this restaurant has a fantastic environment, with low lighting and italian decor. My personal favorite, the lobster ravioli, is just one example of a delicious italian sophisticated dish served at mezzaluna.

Mezzaluna
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/16/08
We usually have lunch at Mezzaluna since I love both their chinese chicken salad and their Mediterranean salad so much, but tonight we decided to have dinner there following a concert. At 8:15 the inside was half empty (outside was full) but within 15 more minutes the place was packed. My husband ordered a curried chicken with flatbread & basmati rice. He enjoyed it very much but wasn't able to finish it as the portion simply was too big. It was neither too sweet nor too spicy, but just right. This presented no problem though. They simply packed up the remainder of the entree and we brought it back to the condo. I had one of their individual pizzas, something they're known for & for which they have a wood-burning oven. Mine was of pesto, chopped roma tomatoes & pine nuts. The crust was crispy & tasted like toasted bread dough. Actually, they use the same recipe as they do for their home-made bread and just don't let it rise as much. Mezzaluna is one of those favorites with locals & visitors alike, & deservedly so.

good food, friendly service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/17/08
One of the least pretentious places to eat in Aspen! Great bar menu, inexpensive by Aspen standards. The popcorn shrimp and vegetable pizza are some of the finest "bar snacks" you'll ever find. Watch your pizza cook in their brick oven, visit with friends, or chat up the staff for local's insiders tips.

Popular. Reasonably good food. Best element is that it is right downtown and close to the slopes.

Had lunch in this delightful restaurant. Food was good, service was lacking. Decor was very interesting. Very busy lunch place and great for people watching.

Excellent food, Great price!
By Back Bay Buyer, 4/4/07
I had the Penne with Rock shrimp in a citrus cream sauce and it was amazing. My girlfriend had the peppered tuna salad and that was excellent also. Nice place that is casual and has very affordable prices for Aspen.
