Overpriced and underwhelming. Barely average service and okay food. My girlfriend ordered a drink that requires pineapple flavored vodka. The waitress said they were out of the pineapple vodka and couldn't make the drink. I asked if they could use regular vodka and pineapple juice. DUH! How hard are little things to figure out? The soup arrived cold and the lettuce wasn't very fresh considering it's summer. I ordered meatloaf and was brought a hamburger. Need I go on? They have Fat Tire on tap, the only redeeming feature.

My husband and I ate there Sat night/Mar.19,2011. Everything was fantastic! The House Margaritas were the best we've ever had. The salads and muffins are SO good; a great improvement over the white bread they used to serve. My blackened chicken was excellent, as was my husband's sirloin steak. The vegetables (carrots and fresh green beans) had an awesome flavor; those, and the delicious potatoes, were perfectly cooked. The service was great. We will go back again and again, probably ordering the same things, due to our being deeply satisfied with our entire evening!

I recommend the Red Barn. We went to the Red Barn twice for lunch and twice for dinner on our tour through Colorado. Nice place to relax and enjoy a good meal with the locals. Very friendly.

This was a waste of $70 for us! There was no wait to be seated, which was the only positive part of our visit to Red Barn. After being directed to our table, we were told our waitress would be right over to take our drink orders. The hostess left us a little laminate card that had the name of the waitress on so we would know her name. As we looked at the card, we noticed there were flies joining us at our table. Nice addition!! My husband ordered the stew (which came to the table in a small cauldron full of mostly potatoes and carrots, WHERE'S the amazing advertised choice angus beef????) and a cesar salad (which was nothing but lettuce leaves and watered down dressing). The boys ordered pita bread cheese pizza from the kids menu. My 4 year old said it was discuss-ting! My daughter ordered the kids sirloin, which came out swimming in blood! So much so, that even her green beans were bloody! (we never order our steaks rare or even med rare for our kids) For myself, I ordered the supposed best prime rib in the county. Nothing amazing! A fly landed on the lip of my glass, so I asked for another pepsi. She just came back with a pitcher and refilled the same glass! We sent back my daughter's steak asking for NO BLOOD! She began to just take the steak! We had to point out that the whole plate had a pool of blood in it! We also let the waitress know of the boys' unsatisfaction and the lack of meat in the stew. She did apologize, but only took $9 off the bill and brought back another steak (blackened, to say the least!) for my daughter. We didn't stay to finish our meal. Appetites were lost. The flies had multiplied. I had to wonder what the kitchen looked like and if the flies nest might be in there. I have had an upset stomach for a week!

I went to Red Barn Saturday night 6/10/10 wasn't crowded. Had to wait long time for meal. Ordered the Filet steak and chili size. Steak was terrible, grissly and tough. chili size was nothing to shout about. Put on just a white hamburger bun. Not toasted or anything. Will not be going back. They need a cook... people were friendly but food was bad at best. Save your money needs better meat.

I have lived in montrose for over 20 years and have seen restuarants come and go. However the Red Barn has been in Business since 1963 When ever my family come here for a visit I always take them to the Red Barn. The service has always been great unlike some of the chain restuarants that have come to town. There barbeque is the best in town I would recommend this restuarant to anyone who enjoys a good steak and barbeque.

Avoid this place!! In Montrose, try Smuggler's or if you want a good steak- Ted Nelson's at Cobble Creek or The Stone House! Outback is much better, though Montrose does not have one! New to Montrose, we've decided to try out the local restaurants. We chose the Red Barn, even though many friends had said that it had gone downhill and to go to Ted Nelson's if we wanted a good steak (former owner of the Red Barn). Since we feel that we need to form our own opinions, we decided to try this establishment. BIG MISTAKE!! Our friends were absolutely correct! From sitting down at a wet, just cleaned, table (hmm.. could it have also been dried before the hostess seated us?) to waiting 15 minutes before the waitress got there, to waiting over 45 minutes for our dinner to appear- service was abysmal. Whether the fault rested with the kitchen or waitress- we cannot surmise- however, two tables that got there after us were served by a different waitress, served and out of there before we were. We ordered steak dinners and my daughter, a hamburger. The salads were uninspired lettuce, some grated carrots and a couple of cherry tomatoes with a dressing straight from the bottle. The steaks were thin and tasteless- though cooked to the correct level of doneness. My daughters hamburger was dry and she did not finish it. We will not be going back to the Red Barn again. It left a bad taste in all out mouths!

While driving to Pueblo on US 50 we saw the red barn in Montrose.. Lots of cars.. busy.. had to be good right? WRONG! We both ordered full racks of baby back ribs. Both were waaaaaaay overcooked. My veggies were cold and my wifes french fries and veggies were cold also. The soup was tasty but barely warm. This place is NOT worth it and Outback (in Pueblo) has better ribs.. Well sizzler probably is better avoid this tourist trap..
