Coming from Cali I am used to authentic Mexican food. The food wasn t completely white washed, but it wasn t nearly the best I ve had. The waiter thought he was being funny only speaking to me in Spanish, after I had clearly heard and spoke to him in English and then talking about me to the Spanish speaking people in my group. He spoke to other groups of people in English but only spoke Spanish at our table. He returned 6+ times and tired flirting with my wife in Spanish. We were never asked why 3 people in our group of 4 barely ate anything and left plenty of food. $50 tab, and the waiter handed the bill to my wife. She left a $5 tip, because she disliked the food a lot. Had the guy not been disrespectful to me by flirting with my wife, talking bad about me, refusing to speak to me in English, and the food been good, I would have easily left a $15-20 tip. I guess the guy forgot that disrespecting the customer really cuts into the amount of tip left. Maybe for this area the food is great, but they must not be used to quality Mexican food.

Just like all the past reviews, this place is one of the best ever! Service was fast and efficient, and our waiter came back several times to check on us. Great menu with lots of selections at excellent prices. Dos Equis on draft is ice cold at a cheap price. I would recommend to anyone, just go to Cortez for the best Mexican food!

Atmosphere was pleasant, the food came very quick, portions were huge, and everything tasted great. I ate too much, and now my tummy aches.

This place was awesome when I ate there in July 2005. I had mojo de ajo (shrimp and mushrooms) and the food was excellent and the plate was enough for two! I ate at the one in Pagosa Springs, same order, and although great was not as good as the one in Cortez!

My husband and I visited Cortez pulling a 5th Wheel RV to see Mesa Verde National Park. I looked for reviews of restaurants and found those on Tequila's Mexican Restaurant. We decided to try it. We live in Texas so we have tried every Tex-Mex joint around. On this Fall Trip, we ate Mexican food from Albuquerque, New Mexico to The Grand Canyon to Santa Fe and Sedona, Arizona. Nothing has been as good as Tequila's! Try any of the dishes...they are all great. They use their spices to perfection....not too HOT just tasty. If we ever visit the Cortez area again, we will definitely be visiting Tequila's! Roy and Debra Henderson, Texas

On our grand tour we've eaten at some great and famous Mexican restaurants in Ft. Worth, El Paso, and Santa Fe. None were as good or as reasonably priced as Tequila's. Eating there makes a trip to Cortez worth the effort.

Fantastic authentic Mexican food! Very busy place for good reason. Everyone is having fun and enjoying the food. The motel recommended this reatuarant to us and said we wouldn't be sorry and we were not. Our kids begged to go back every night! Try the platters with fresh grilled assortment of meats, great refired beans obviously homemade, and don't miss the flan. The best!
