We ate at this bar over the weekend and was very dis-satisfied. A country boy knows his food and this just doesn't cut it. First, an 8 oz steak for my wife ordered medium rare. The steak arrived and I thought it was the baked potato. It was very fat and rounded, about the same size as a baked potato. It was covered in some sort of glaze. The outside of the steak was very well done, but cut into it and it was very rare in the middle. If this steak was ordered any more done, the outside would have been leather. The steak was not tender and did not have much flavor. (Get normal looking steaks and they will cooked more evenly) Second, an Angus burger was ordered ($8) and cheese and mushrooms were added ($.75) with a side of onion rings. For a $9 burger at a bar and grill, this should be a whopper. Right? Well not here!! I got a small rounded burger on top of a hoagie bun (cut in half I might add) with lettuce, tomato on the side. The bun was no more than 3 inches long by 2 inches wide, with one for the top as well. This was the most delicate burger I have ever ordered and it makes it very difficult to eat when the bun is so tiny it can't contain the toppings. A small order of average onion rings and that was it. Thirdly, for my 4 year old child...I ordered the chicken strips and shoestring fries for $4.75. This was a $2 meal in my opinion, with 2 small frozen flat chicken strips and a small amount of nasty fries. Oh yeah, they charged us extra for the ranch dressing for my kid to dip the chicken in. This meal cost us in mid $30's and none of us were satisfied..It's no wonder there were only one other couple in the restaraunt. Let me remind ya'll, this is a BAR and GRILL!! To top it off...they do not have any beer on tap...just overpriced bottles!! It appears to me that this Bar and Grill is a wanna be gourmet restaraunt....stick to the basics, lower your prices, up your portions, add draft beer, and you may get more customers...or at least a returning customer. Very disappointing to eat at a place like this in a small town when you expect great food and customer service. Went into Salida the following evening and ate at the Windmill Restaraunt....Very good service and food there! Chicken Parm and Chicken Fried Steak were awesome...what you would expect from a small town Grill!
