Max's Place, Wetmore

Max's place is a perfect stop for lunch if you are driving through town. They only accept cash or check for payment, though. However, I had neither (only credit/debit cards) and our wonderful waitress simply said "don't worry, here's the address of the restaurant and your bill. When you get home mail us a check for your lunch." How trustworthy, but also a relief since I had no idea where the nearest ATM would have been. She also was very kind to our dog who was along for our road trip. She brought her a nice big bowl full of water out for her to drink from while we sat outside on one of the neat picnic tables for our lunch. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience. I didn't even mention how good the food was or the incredibly reasonable prices on the menu. THANKS

Great lunch. Highly recommended.. Don't pass it by. Cash only. We would definitely stop again. We stopped by chance AND consider ourselves lucky.

The green chili burger is the tops! The service, people and atmosphere are excellent! Bring cash and tip well for the above. Sunset Magazine needs to highlight this place. I stop every time I travel up or down I-25. It's worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!

The place for breakfast. Also, Great Hamburgers! The kind that drip juice off your pinkie when you bite down on them.

Good buffalo burgers, good service, nice people... but no plastic??!!? They were very nice about it but I had to go back a few days later to pay my bill with a check.

Max's special breakfast is enough food at the right price to fill you up for quite a while. Bacon, bacon, and more bacon. Many other choices, breakfast served all day. Lunch, dinner and deserts too! Great people, great food, great prices and a great location at Exit 74 right off I-25 in Colorado City next to the State rest area. Don't pass it by! Cash only, no credit cards. You will come back many times over!!!!!
