Echo Japanese Restaurant, Greeley

Echo has some of the most authentic sushi I've had since returning to the States from Tokyo. The food is outstanding, the service is top-notch, and it is (as said in another review) one of the cleanest places you can find in Greeley. If you're watching your budget, just go in during their lunch hours. You can get two sets of rolls for about $8. Plus, in how many other restaurants can you see the owner (and namesake) of the restaurant rolling up her sleeves and serving customers? Whether you're just passing through or you live in Greeley, Echo is a must-try for sushi lovers.

I've been a loyal customer to Echo for over 16 years. It literally used to be my favorite restaurant. However the last two times I have gone I have left disappointed and, after my last visit (for my birthday) this evening, won't be returning again. The food is still good, my complaint is not about taste. However, the prices are unreasonably high and the portions are ridiculous. Tonight I paid $15 for a vegetable tempura plate that consisted of two slices of carrot, a broccoli spear, three onion rings and a slice of sweet potato!!!!! Seriously? My daughter got a $16 tempura and salmon combo that was probably 2 oz of salmon and five pieces of tempura!!! Even the soup and salad served with couldn't make those plates worth the money spent. I don't need giant bloated portions, but that's ridiculous! It pains me to say it, because like I said, I've been going here for years and years, but I won't be returning.

Outstanding udon! As well as the house salad dressing. I've been in Seattle & San Francisco, and still like Echo's versions of many of these dishes better. They hold their own by any standards, and are a hidden gem in Greeley.

Pretty good Japanese restaurant in Greeley, right across the street from the University of Northern Colorado. They have a pretty decent selection of your typical Japanese restaurant items; nothing to exotic though. My favorite is the tempura dinner plate which comes with about 5 large pieces of shrimp tempura and a good sized plate of vegetable tempura (batter fried shrimp & veggies). The tempura batter is light and crunchy. They also serve clear Japanese soup, which is a nice change since most restaurants serve miso soup rather than this version. I tried some of their sushi, but that wasn't the greatest and the price wasn't outstanding either. If you're looking for Sushi better to go to Sushi 1 on West 10th Street. Overall you're looking at about $15 per person for dinner. They also serve alcohol and seemed to have a decent selection of liquor and beer. The restaurant is small and quaint, so it can get crowded on the weekends. Go for lunch or dinner on a weeknight if you like privacy. If dining alone, you can sit at the bar, which is also very comfortable. They have a small parking lot in the back of the restaurant as well so you don't have to park on the street. The restaurant itself is built in a converted home so it feels as though you're dining in someone's living room.

The fusion of flavor and presentation make this a favorite of mine. Good size portions served with salad and soup. (Take-out: Bring your own container for soup) I would tell you to stop by and give it a try.

Some of the best sushi I've had!

We weren't sure what to expect. Echo is located in downtown Greeley in an old two story home. It was a very small family business with probably 10-15 tables. Very quaint and quiet. The service was very friendly and attentive. We tried several different sushi rolls all were wonderful and very generous. We also tried a vegetable tempura that was a little bland on the seasoning. But the tempura type rolls were great as was the fried tempura ice cream with chocolate sauce. Strange? I thought so as well. The beverages were very moderately priced. We would definitely visit this cute little restaurant again.
