I live in Loveland, CO and have been to many of the restaurants in Estes Park. To date this was my worst experience in Estes Park. We walked into this restaurant, which was moderately busy, and finally got out of there an hour and a half later. That would not have been too bad if the experience would have been positive. When we sat down we were sitting there for 10-15 minutes before we had someone ask us what we wanted to drink. At that time the waitress asked us if we were ready to order, as she was well aware of the fact that she took too long to greet us. She promptly brought us our drinks. Then our food seemed to come out at a relatively decent speed. When the waitress brought us our food that was it. We did not see her for the rest of the meal. No offers to top off our drinks and no inquiry as to how our food tasted or if it was properly cooked. After we were done with our meal we waited, with almost empty plates and empty drinks, for almost 20 minutes before our waitress came to clear our table. At that time I was so frustrated that I do not know if she even asked us how our meal was, like it mattered at that time. This restaurant is understaffed in the front of the house and even though the food is moderately priced it was overpriced based upon the taste and blandness. On a scale of 1-10 I would give this experience a 3. I would not give a 1 unless the food was absolutely horrible and the service was bad. The only reason this experience was not a 2 was because of the company and the atmosphere. If you want a pleasant food experience in Estes Park try Nicky’s, The Rock Inn, Ed’s, Casa Grande, or Orlando’s.
Wow! Very good service, superb tasting food, our family loved it! We all ordered individual sized pizzas and they were delicious! Their beer and wine menu is very extensive. I only wish we had suggested dining on the outdoor patio as there was live music at the time we dined. Highly recommended family restaurant!
Poppy's Pizza and Grill has wonderful food. My wife and I make a point to stop there first every May and July that we visit. It has a nice sized patio next to the Big Thompson/Fall River. The pizza is great. The only negative is that they only have one size of crust. Medium Pan. Normally we have pretty good service. The past two times we have visited we have had Jason as our server. We had to ask for silverware, refills, ketchup, (enter whatever you want here), etc. So...after many visits, we will make sure we ask for another waiter. Great food. Remember to ask for fries with your burgers!
Normally, I would have had a better experience at this location, but, for whatever reason, my family and I recieved the worst service I have ever known to exist. We recently went expecting to recieve a decent service, when the service was appallingly worse than a high school cafeteria's food. Furthermore I've never experienced service this bad, anywhere. But on the flip side the food was halfway decent.
Poppy's is a great place to eat. We eat there everytime we visit Estes Park. We always order the pizza. The night we were there the special was burritos so we got one to share. This worked out great. We all were stuffed when we left. They were awesome. We went back the next night just for more burritos but it was not the special so we ordered a pizza and tried the sundried tomatoe pesto sauce. It was so good!! The young man who waited on us was great. We asked about the pizza sauces and he gave us alittle taste of them all. All the employees were so nice. Can't wait to come back!
This has got to be the best pizza in the entire world...including Italy. It is only surpassed by the warm and personable owner who loves what he does and represents the Estes Park Community very well. It's a must for every visitor.
