The only thing bad about the Sweet Basilico is that you sometimes have to wait in line quite a while. Do make reservations!!!
The food is superior and the owner/head chef really cares that you have a great meal. We have eaten at the Sweet Basilico for several years now and my wife and I have never come away disappointed.
Great food, resonable prices, and plenty of parking (which is hard to come by in Estes Park).
My favorite supper restaurant in Estes.
note--the address listed here is wrong!!! They moved 6 months ago to near the tramway!!
place is jamming-- get reservations or wait!
food was good, excellent value,
one of best placess to eat in Estes Park.
I did not like this place. The servers were not friendly, they would rather eat than serve their customers, and in a party of 5 but needing a table for 6 because of a baby we got over charged and charged a gratuity I'm very displeased and will never go back when we return to Estes Park
The absolute BEST rrestaurant in the Estes Valley... hands down! Congrats on your new location... thanks for the many, many awesome meals you have served me over the last several years! You ARE THE BEST by far!
although widely recommended, the food was mediocre. some of the sauces (for instance, the pesto cream) are too rich to really enjoy. the restaurant is in a former pizza hut structure, so there is absolutely NO sense of class to the place, which was disappointing. on a friday night, we were finishing dessert at about 10:30 p.m. (early on a weekend night in most places, and we were the only ones left), and the staff kept flashing the lights on and off to get us to leave, which was quite rude; patrons should not be rushed to leave, especially in such a juvenile manner. again, if you want a sense of class with your meal and you're used to finer dining, go elsewhere.
My grandparents live in Estes, I've been hooked on this place for years. I make reservations when I'm heading up to see them. The food is all So Dreamy! Chicken Marsala and EVERYTHING is so scrumptious. The torteloni, Everything is perfect and Yummy. I always order 2 entrees and savor leftovers the next day. I regularly propose to the Chef/Owner, tell him that if he ever wants to run away and get married, I'm his Girl...
ABSOLUTELY must try the BEST Tira-Misu in the World!, and I don't even LIKE tira-misu. Seriously. I've talked several complete strangers at the restaurant into ordering it and they Thank me, and order another slice.
~Watch tho, the restaurant's moving (has moved?) soon! To the farther end of town in the old Pizza Hut building~
Estes Park has lots of eateries. Most are mediocre at best. However, there are a few gems and Sweet Basilico is the best affordable game in town.
The atmosphere is nothing to write home about and the wait without reservations can be horrendously long. Hopefully this will change as the restaurant has now moved.
What I hope will not change, however, is the friendly long-time staff and the magnificent food. Everything on the menu is excellent! One bite will tell you that a lot of care and love goes into every dish served. To me, this *is* fine dining! I don't care for nor do I want a $100 per plate, white tablecloth experience. What I want is great food prepared with love and devotion by people dedicated to their craft. This is exactly what you will find at Sweet Basilico.
If you are seeking a true 5-star dining experience, go elsewhere. If, like me, you seek 5-star food with affordable prices, look no further. Sweet Basilico offers the best food for the price this side of Boulder and handily beats the socks off of anything else offered in or around Estes Park. There aren't many culinary gems in this area, but this is one of the best!
