I'm actually quite surprised at the number of poor reviews on Yahoo here. Yes - I've been here at least 20 times over the last 5 or so years and on a rare ocassion something will be slightly off in service or food, but 9 times out of 10 it is excellent. I frequent several other good Thai restaurants in Boulder and around the country, and while I'm not proud to admit it, regularly get accused of being a food snob by friends and family - but this place doesn't usually dissapoint. My Phat Kee Mow has always had nice wide rice noodles with a great depth of flavor, curries have been fresh, and portions have always been substantial. In fact just today I had a great Green Curry with Eggplant and Shrimp - Hope you all consider trying it despite the reviews...
I had an awful experience the first time I went here and an even more awful experience the second time. The first time we waited 15 minutes after we were sat (and the place had 3 other tables at the time with 2 people standing around) the food was not worth it. I always like to give places a second chance, but the second time we (2 of us) were waiting for a table and there was a mother daughter couple waiting behind us. They sat the people right behind us in front of our face! He actually went over to them and sat them before us! We had been waiting 10 minutes and they had been waiting a couple minutes at most. I went up to the guy who had sat them and asked if they has reservations and he said they did not. I told him that we had been waiting longer than them and he just walked away. Without an apology, we waited 5 more minutes before we walked out. It is the worst service I have ever had! I will NEVER go back there. I usually am pretty open to giving places chances, but going back there would not be worth it to me... EVER. Moongate has MUCH better food and awesome service, so I am happy I have found a much better place I can give my business to.
Well after reading all those nice reviews on MSN Cityguide i decided to check it out myself.
First off the place was quite empty consider i went during dinner hour and was promptly seat right next to the exit door.
I was served immediately with water and a cup of soup (the soup was rather good) and i ordered Spring Rolls with shrimp which tasted horrible and for the main curse i had Curry with Tofu
The tofu was like it was worn by and roofer all day in his shoes , i could not eat it and ended up eating just the veggies.
I highly recommend to check some other Thai places in twon before you chose this one.
