Description

Sushi Uokura, located near the Colorado School of Mines at the edge of Lakewood and Golden, may be out of the way, but it is one of the most popular Asian restaurants in the Denver area. Consistently voted one of Denver's best sushi restaurants, Sushi Uokura serves nothing but Japanese seafood in a lovely, soothing atmosphere, complete with fountains, patio, and a tiny indoor koi pond. Take out is also available, but the dine-in experience is even better than the food. The chef is a nationally renowned sushi expert and watching him prepare your dishes is fascinating and fun. Fans of Japanese food would be hard-pressed to find a better place than Sushi Uokara in Denver.

I've been coming to this place for 8 years. While it's not Sushi Den, who needs the snobbery of THAT place to eat great sushi. This is a wonderful place to have some fresh sushi at a reasonable price.

Recommended by a local friend. Unassuming place. Simple but very good sushi/nigiri with better than average rolls. Service was very good.

Service was friendly and sound, sushi was excellent! Definitely worth the drive. Prices slightly high and not the most romantic atmosphere, but absolutely great food.

i went to this restaurant after a friend told me how wonderful it was, i would have to disagree. The owner (i am assuming) was yelling at one of his employees in front of the all of the customers, which made me very unconfortable. Then when we got our order, i notice that the blue fin tuna was a terrible cut, it had too much fat and looked unappitizing. i could not eat it. Overall, I was not impressed. the waitress was cold and had no personality. this was just not a feel good restaurant to me. overall just bad.

I had the best spicy tuna rolls I've had in a long time. Their tempura was cooked to perfection and delicious and the service was good for as busy as it was. I have a new favorite restaurant!

Limited menu, fish didn't taste too fresh, and the service was bad. Might be good in a bind, but definitely not worth the drive. Overpriced, also.

Best Sushi in the Metro Area

So you live in Denver or Boulder? This place will be worth your 20 min. drive!!!! The food is excellent. The fish is as fresh as it gets. From the outside, this little gem, looks like a dive bar, but don't let that fool you! Service can be slow on busy days. In the spring, set on the patio, for a babmboo retreat! Don't pass up the house hot sake!!!
