Located along Uptown's Restaurant Row, Strings is one the city's classiest and most popular dining destinations. The menu's blend of California and Italian cuisine and the courteous service and casual ambience make for a welcome fine dining experience. The crowd tends to swing on the upscale side, but this is a place for everybody. The wide selection of pastas comes with an array of flavorful and creamy sauces and meat entrees include veal, chicken and beef. For an appetizer, try the Dungeness crabcakes or the signature Carpaccio.
The food is superb, the house wine was much better than typical house wines, but their service took the cake. We were travelling through Denver with our dog. Not only did they welcome her, they gave her a big bowl of cold water. While we ate on their patio, she slept under the umbrella on a carpeted floor. The food was wonderfully delicious, too! Our entrees consisted of a beautifully tender flank steak on a bed of field greens and goat cheese. We shared a dessert platter of mini creme brulees served on two ceramic serving spoons, mini servings of vanilla bean ice cream & pineapple ice cream and a giant serving of chocolate mousse cake. They all tasted so fresh, like they were made moments before we got there. I can't wait to go back to Colorado just so we can go back to Strings!!
The food was below standard for the expectations. Steak was ordered medium and it came rare and barely warm. Sent back and came back warm. Server didn't know if it was rare or whatever cuz he's a vegetarian. Sent the meal back and no other meal arrived. He said the kitchen was closed. Mentioned this to the owner and he appreciated the infor but did nothing to entice us back for perhaps a better meal. Was very dissappointed overall as this restaurant is usually highly rated.
