Been coming here for years and have always gotten good food, good service and a great dinning experience. When we go downtown to see plays at the DCPA we often have dinner somewhere downtown. Last Thursday we went to see the Book O Morman s and decided to go back to Willie G s again. I had a ribeye cooked to perfection, my wife had crab stuffed shrimp she said was to die for. We topped that off with a melt in your mouth pecan pie with pecan ice cream. Good food, good service and great dinning experience. If you believe the bad reviews here you are going to miss out on a truly good restaurant.
I ate dinner at the Denver location on Friday night, and do not have a good thing to say about the place. I know fine dining very well, as I eat at fine dining restaurants on the average of 3 to 4 a week do to my profession, and my prime rib was absolutely horrible on Friday night. I ordered it medium rare, and I had to actually saw through it to cut it as the fibers in the meat were that tough. I sat at the bar, and my service was also very average, and that is being nice. The manager, a young lady came over and asked me and my date how things were, and I told her I was not impressed, and she asked me what was wrong, which I then shared with her, but all she had to say was sorry , and preceeded to walk away. Two stars is all I am willing to give this place, and that is for the bake potato I had.
Was very excited to eat here but not overly impressed. My friends took us here because they loved it. My food was average...not bad, not great. The first item my friends ordered, they didn't offer any more. The second item they ordered was not the same as it used to be. They changed the recipe and it wasn't nearly as good (my friends opinion) For the price I probably would't go back.
We went to Willie G's in Denver last night for my brother-in-law's birthday. I have to say I was VERY disappointed. The service was poor, and it took forever to get our meals. We spent two and a half hours and left as soon as our meals were finished. The food was overpriced for the quality it actually was. The waitstaff was in a hurry to take our checks (big server no-no) and although they were separate checks, gratutity was still added. When we opened our leftovers today, there was hair in it. One of the people in our party also never recieved the drink he ordered to accompany his meal. I would rate this place as the same quality as Red Lobster, which I never go to. Perhaps they are cutting corners due to the economy food-wise, but the rest of the experience is also inexcusable.
One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Been there twice in the last year and it's been fantastic both times. Great atmosphere, outstanding food, and awesome service. I gave 5 stars on all categories, including value, because the higher prices were definitely justified by the all around quality. We had the seafood pasta and the glazed salmon; both are highly recommended.
Try the LOBSTER! I love lobster and willie G's know how to serve it up right. From the appetizers to the dessert, Willie's is the BEST choice for seafood! My friend doesn't care for seafood but no problem at Willie G's...she ordered the pecan crusted chicken and could not quit raving about it. I loved the service...energetic with a flair of class. Great place to take that special someone for a nice dinner. TWO thumbs up!
In my travels, I've had the opportunity (or misfortune) of eating at many restaurants. Simply put, about 75% of the time, I'm left slightly disappointed and longing for my wife's good cooking.
The other night, I had my first experience with Willie G's in Denver. It was, without a doubt, the best food I've ever had at a restaurant. Everything was perfect. The sour-dough bread, the Lobster Trash appetizer, and the STEAK. Even the veggies were great.
In my experience, not a single restaurant can come close to cooking a steak as well as I can on my smoker at home (not Morton's, Hereford House, or anyone), but Willie G's made me feel right at home. It was the best steak I've ever had at a restaurant, period.
I highly recommend Willie G's to everyone that enjoys good food.
