A dream come true...
By Ducati_Chic, 7/20/10
For Valentine's of 2010 my fiance worked really hard to take me to this historic hotel I have loved for years. I have been here before on business meetings and for events but never actually stayed the night. He also got me a small spa package, which was amazing. The girls in the spa were friendly and talkative and it helped me enjoy my time more. The bathroom was a bit small but it was nice hot water in the shower and the bed was very firm and comfortable. Most things I expect to cost at a hotel (room service, movies, internet etc) so we just enjoyed a stroll downtown and time together. We went back in May to discuss possible wedding plans at the Brown Palace. My fiance and I have talked at length with the catering manager, Heather. She was most helpful and informative. She has answered so many questions and helped me feel comfortable and welcoming in my choice to have the wedding and reception at the Brown Palace. I like that they have it all inclusive. From flowers and the cake to the food and tables, chairs, linens. It is truly a blessing to have everything come together for that special day. We had a few issues in our room (light was out, needed towels) and maintenance came right away. I feel bad after reading the reviews that some had such a bad experience when ours was so wonderful. The Brown Palace is a bit pricey but I would expect it to be with its historic nature and 5 star service that we received. I look forward to our wedding there in 2012 (long engagement) and to enjoying with my wonderful family and friends on that special day!

This is the worst place I have ever experienced. It is supposed to be one of Denvers finest (Gold Standard) hotels. Most of the staff and definately the management doesn't even begin to understand "gold standards" They have fashioned their style along side the Ritz, and they sure have a long way to go. The reputation is well beyond the actual delivery. I would start at the top and retire the hotel heads to include department level management. Restaraunts are good, but hotel feels dirty when walking thru. Management has the arrogance to believe they are the best, and they could be if they get over themselves. I met a guy who was supposed to be the hotel manager and what a premadonna, he sure thinks he is special. What a bufoon. If he was working in my business it would be at an entry level position at best. Most of the other folks were great and friendly. Did love the tea.

Cockroach, double charged, construction and lies
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/3/09
I booked a Friday night stay for me and my wife. I chose the Brown Palace because of their reputation and because we had stayed there once before. I prepaid when I made the reservation so we would not have to deal with it upon checkout. Upon arrival at about 3:00 p.m., they were doing construction in the room right next to us in room 612... we were in 610. I could see in the room because they had the door open and they were renovating the bathroom, not to mention there were tool cases lining the hall and plastic covering the floor. No problem since we were leaving immediatly. Well, at 7:30 a.m. on a SATURDAY, they started in with the sawing, hamering and drilling!!! After a half hour they quit. Well, at this point a cockroach decided to join us in our bathroom (which I squished and left for the housekeepers in a tissue). We then decided to check out and the front desk clerk asked if everything was alright. I said "No, they were doing constrction next to us and it woke us up. He had the NERVE to say "No sir, they had someone stuck in a room and they were trying to get him out." This really made me mad and I told him "No, they weren't, they were doing construction." He tried keeping to his story and after about 30 seconds of argueing I told him they we also had an unexpected guest in our room (squished cockroach). He then asked me what room I was in and that's when I told him room 610. His silence was golden and he knew that I had caught him in a lie. He said that they would refund me $100 so I gave him a credit card to put the refund back onto. He apologized and said that this was not how the hotel is ran and they hoped that this would fix the problem. At that point we left laughing about the situation and it was more comical than shattering. HOWEVER... on our next bank statement we had found that not only did they fail to give us the refund, they overcharged us by $211!!!! Our room of $300 was now over $500. I contacted the billing dept at the beginning of January and there bookkeeper assured me that I would recieve a refund and credit back on my card. It is now the 3rd of February and the bookkeeper with not return my e-mails and we still have not heard from them! I do not make it a habbit of badmouthing a bussiness, it is hard enough as it is. But this was one bad experience after another and when I left my comment card in their drop box, I expected a call from their manager to see what could have been done. Not a call, not an email! NOT AGAIN!!!

What a dump
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/27/09
I just returned from a stay at the Brown Palace. I will never go back. The front desk staff was nice the first few days, but when I questioned my bill, they were rude. The young lady acted as if I was the dumbest person in the world. The doorman were always friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to 16th Street Mall which is nice place to spend an evening. Now for the room- what a dump! The backs of the curtains were moldy and falling apart. There were stains in one of the chairs. My pillow case had a huge tear. The bathroom was the worst. The shower/tub tile had 3 long cracks. The sink had a crack as well. The tags were still on the sink bottom (they were half one/ half wore off). The room was recently painted and paint was splashed on the floor, walls, and tub. There is little room by the sink to store items, so they put a wicker/wrought iron rack in the room. The rack looks like it came from a yard sale. The legs have left rust on the floor. The room was noisy. I could hear the conversation of the room next door perfectly from my bed. The noise from the lobby could be heard until about midnight. The doors are very loud and slam shut. I went to get ice one night and was shocked to see such a gross room. I can't really explain it. The walls and ceilings were brown in places and the dry wall was no longer there. It looked like there had been water damage some time ago. The elecrical plug in had tape around it. It was gross. Not worth the money!!!

great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/7/08
My husband and I stayed at thebrown palace for his birthday...We booked one of their packages online. "The boys of the brown) For him and his brother to enjoy. The package was to include a tour of Coors field, a tour of the great divide brewery and a six pack, a fifty doller gift card to the cigar bar, 2 massages, and the room, with transportation to all. Instead when we arrived the staff did not know anything about the package. They had to walk in exruciating heat to the Coors field tour! (Its in August) And then to the brewery...The problems continued when their was no ride to get them after the tour of the brewery, and withour their 6 pack! He had to pay for the cab! Very dissapointed with that staff!! (The package would be a great buy if the staff was more educated on it) Other than that the trip was wonderful, the room was fabulous. Very beautiful and uniqe hotel.

Browns Palace Hotels Palace Arms Restaurant
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/6/08
I took my wife to the Palace Arms Restaurant for our 7Th Anniversary. She is hard to impress as she is a North Shore Princess from Chicago. But she was truly won over by the superior waiter staff which was top drawer, the ambiance, and the 6 star food. Thanks for making our anniversary as special as the Chicago Drake Hotel would have been....if not more so!
