That's what we kept saying...why is THIS piece of meat $42 and why is THAT piece of meat over $50?????!!!!!
The ambiance is wonderful, fantastic, beautiful, excellent, romantic, lovely and the list could go on. It is dimly lit, dark wood, white linen etc.... That was a delightful surprise!
BUT, open your menu and you'll be surprised there too! Then, hesitantly make your order and start eating your over-salty, tough or tasteless steak and you'll wondering where all your money is going.
My husband did enjoy the French Onion Soup and I did like the 'different' Calamari. The Sea Scallops were ok. This place is a steak house? Where are they buying their steak? Sam's Club? I don't know, but boy were we disappointed.
Then, why were there 3 empty glasses RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME for MOST of the dinner? Why weren't the used dishes removed promptly? There was tons of buss staff around and, at least for the first 1.5 hours of our visit, our waiter only had our table. Why did the wine come halfway through my meal when I ordered it when I ordered my meal? Why did it take another 20 minutes to be served dessert? The waiter was very friendly and very conversational. Possibly a bit too much because he seemed to have a difficult time taking care of us when we needed him.
I don't know...there are WAY too many GOOD expensive steak houses in the South Suburbs. We won't be going back.
Steaks were great. Wine list is better than I have ever seen. Chris, the server, was great. I would definately go back for a special occasion. Prices were a litlle high for what you can get at other steak houses.
The prices are astronomical: We paid more for a half bottle of wine ($30) than we usually pay for a full bottle of better wine. The vegetables were sad: candied carrots, raw asparagus. The steaks were fine, but not worth $40 each. Presentation was no nicer that going to your grandma's house. Service was very slow. One could have 2 excellent meals almost anywhere else in Denver for what we paid at Brook's.
This place was fantastic! The atmosphere was elegant, the service was spot on, and I can't say enough about the food! They went out of their way to make our experience perfect. I'll definately be back.
I always avoided Brooks because of unfortunate media coverage that said they had problems passing their state health inspections (which I now doubt). We went anyway and had a great time with great food. The place was immaculate and the service was great. We'll be back!
Brooks is one of the best of the best steak houses. Food is always great, service is great (my second time back they remembered my name) and while it is not cheap, for the quality, it is a great value.
