We unite yearly in here in El Paso, and traditionally dine at the Cattleman s Steak House. However we made reservations at the Mesa Street Grill on the last night of our stay. I was surprised, I had a Rib Eye (medium), with with veggies and a twice baked potatoe, and and if you are a Jalapeno lover, like me, I recommend an order of bacon wrapped stuffed Jalapenos. That alone will bring you back The shrimp Pasta is great also, they have good deserts, and great spirits according to my brother, and my brother in law. I recommend it, and we may replace The Cattleman s Steak House.

Too pricey to be this bad? No. It really is this bad.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/14/09
Hey, Sarah A. At least your food was cooked and you could eat it. I am surprised you even gave two stars based on your review. I have been there once. Only once and it will stay that way. I understand it was busy. After waiting for about 15 minutes to be seated (hey, it is a restaurant, it happens) we were immediately attended to. My wife and I ordered wine, appetizers and entrees. 40 minutes later the appetizers - yes, that is correct, not the entrees - finally showed up. No one attended to us, asked if we needed anything, apologized for the delay, etc . . . for the entire 40 minutes. There was not even bread to snack on while we waited. I tasted my appetizer (escargot). Room temperature. It was supposed to be hot. My wife's calamari was marginally at a higher temperature than our refrigerator. Not a good way to kick off a meal and certainly there is no excuse why standard menu items and fried calamari cannot be prepared in under 40 minutes! After about 10 minutes of trying to get someone's attention, we left the appetizers and cancelled our order. The only decent thing they did the whole night was not charge us for the wine we had and offered for us to take our entrees home at no cost. (BTW, apparently our entrees were ready at about the same time as the appetizers.) Of course we declined. After the appetizers, we certainly had no desire to try anything else "prepared" here. Never going back. A place this expensive should have no excuse to be operated so poorly. My advice, do yourseld a favor, stay clear and head further up the road to Marcello II.

Been in Mesa Grill a few times now and every time it has been great. The first time was when i was in town for the weekend checking out the city. I was worried that the dining scene wouldn't be that of my home town Chicago. I tried the Central Cafe(?) but was disappointed with the service and the food seemed expensive for what i got. I checked with the hotel and they suggested I try Mesa Grill. It was fantastic. I got a nice table on the patio and heard some live music. The service was attentive and fun. The servers weren't as stuffy as most high end dining establishments have. I felt and was treated like a regular. Ever since that day i have been going in at least a few times a week. The food is good. The service friendly. Drinks are solid. I think the best part of this place is i am comfortable there.

Amazing Place!! I'm from Mexico, but I live in El Paso TX. I've been here for 6 months, I know it's not much but with the little experience I have from El Paso, I can assure you guys that The Mesa Street Bar and Grill is by far the most amazing restaurant I've ever beet at. I walk in with a couple of friends and the hostess was there like if she was waiting for us to go. I smoke, so i asked for a table in the patio, and she took us there. At the moment we sit, we had already 3 glasses of iced water on the table, which we really appreciated because it was like 100 degrees outside, but the patio was cooler than the street because of the A/C. We ordered steaks and they were just great, not pricy at all. We also took a look at the wine list and we had to ask the waiter what he recomended because the list is huge. So we ate and had a great bottle of wine, and then I ralized that i left my cigarrettes at home, so i ask the waiter if they sell smokes, and what a surprise, THEY DO!! so i buy a pack and sit with my friends to talk and somke while drinking some beer after the wine, and the waiter was always there asking if we needed something else in a really friendly tone. Just an AMAZING PLACE if you want the best food and service in El Paso

Poor service, over cooked food
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/23/09
SHAME ON YOU MANAGEMENT, IF YOU DISREGARD THIS NOTICE. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED SITUATION DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, YOU'LL BE RESPECTED MORE FOR CARING ABOUT YOUR PATRONS. Ms. Last week was my daughter's birthday day and I called to make reservations for a party of 11. What should have been a great 18th birthday dinner was a flop! The service was poor, albeit when the tab came, they were sure to add the 20% gratuity to the check. I guess the young man knew that no matter the service he provided he was sure to get his gratuity added to their checks. The food took close to an hour to get to the table, the steak was over BURNED! We will never go back again. Folks, If you're looking to get mistreated, overcharged, and without any common courtesy, then this is the place to goVery disappointed that they ruined by daughter's 18th Birthday dinner.

Looks like a nice place. I'm sure it deserves better than average. I had the steak soup, and a dessert. Can't say much for the dessert I had, but the soup was good and the iced tea was good. Slow Sunday, so the service was so-so. I look forward to going back for dinner soon. UPDATE: Very good food and spirits. Not varietal on the appetizers, but so far EVERY dish is great! They no longer have BASS ale, however (boooo!). It is diverse in seating areas, has great atmosphere in the bar, and you can even have an intimate dining experience...rare in El Paso. The service is of the best in El Paso. If you are used to dining in the US restaurant capital (Dallas), this would be a familiar setting, in most regards...and it could probably survive in Dallas. Did I mention they no longer have BASS! The wine list is very redeeming, though.

Who Would Have Thought?
By Caroline, 11/3/05
So. We walk into a small building expecting it to be quaint with our tummies rumbling for something adequate. Instead, it was like walking into another dimension - more like Sacramento than El Paso. The atmosphere is cozy and we look off to the right to see a beautiful patio. I said to myself "Self? Why don't we sit outside? It is such a great day." I ordered an avocado and grapefruit salad. Who would have thought the two were such an incredible combination? I mean the sweet but tart burst of citrus breaks down the subtle but oily sensation of the avocado ... c'est magnifique. But to top it all off, they played some really great jazz over the music system. All I have to say is who would have thought this gem of a place would be so great?
