I tried to make a reservation for this place in June....I never recieved a confirmation and had read on the internet about the nightmares others had when they arrived and there rooms were given to others already so i politely asked for a confirmation to be sent by e-mail. I was asked for and provided my credit card number over the phone, i was told i would receive a confirmation in a few minutes. A week later I e-mailed to say i had not received my confirmation. After no response i then phoned...long distance from Europe, and was told it would be resent...a week after that i called, and e-mailed to cancel my reservation and made a reservation elsewhere, i wasn't about to drive 2 days and wind up with no place to sleep. I received a letter of apology and then in October they billed my credit card for all 3 nights....i was never there and never had a confirmed reservation. I have written 5 times and still no refund. I am now pursuing the refund thru my credit card company

I have traveled all over the US and the world and have to say this was the worst experience I've had at a so-called top-end resort. Big Bend was an incredible experience, but I would recommend everyone stay elsewhere when visiting here. Lajitas resort reminds me of the Eagles song 'Hotel California'. From the road and website it looks like heaven, but don't let that fool you. It's also a long drive to anywhere, so it's not easy to check out and leave. The room hadn't been adequately cleaned, and the cleaning staff didn't speak any English. Later, we asked in Spanish for a plastic bag to line the ice bucket, and were given a black trash bag. The restaurant on property was adequate in quality, but WAY overpriced. The wait staff seemed to be trapped in their lives and this town and the service reflected it. The registration staff was disingenuous and wound up overcharging us for our stay (try $700 for 2 nights). When I pointed this out, it seems they had already charged my credit card and couldn't refund it without talking to 'accounting'. They then for the next month wouldn't return my calls (four in 3 weeks). Make sure you contact your credit card company ASAP to contest it, even though they tell you they will have it all 'fixed' within 2 days. In summary, despite the website, I would advise to avoid this place at all costs.
For many years, Lajitas Resort & Spa has been the hotel of choice for Bruce Foods
Corporation while attending the Terlingua International Chili Championship. From the moment we arrive until the time we leave, the resort staff makes our stay as enjoyable and stress free as anyone could possibly ask.
They are helpful enough to send someone to pick us up from the airport when we arrive and take us to the luxurious resort. The property is beautifully designed and decorated and could make any person feel at home away from home. The rooms are exceptionally clean and comfortable. The resort accommodates your culinary needs with a contemporary Tex-Mex Café, Candelilla Café, serving breakfast, lunch, and diner every day. They also offer amenities such as a full service spa and an eighteen hole golf course.
We at Bruce Foods would like to thank Steven Dye, Director of Operations and his entire staff for making our stay wonderful. We look forward to visiting again next year!
It ia a lovely place and everyone was very helpful. It is seriously in the middle of nowhere. If you visit during spring break- it will be difficult to get a spot in the restaurant but other than that everything was fine.
I'M NOT THE KIND OF GAL WHO WOULD GET THE MOST FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF LAJITAS, I WISH I WERE. I'M SURE I WOULD LOVE THE ROOM, THE FOOD, THE SHOPS, THE GOLF COURSE, THE HISTORY OF THE AREA, AND THE COWBOY BREAKFAST. BUT, I AM WHEELCHAIR BOUND AND MANY OF THESE ARE UNAVAILABLE TO ME. I RECOMMEND LAJITAS TO EVERYONE. I LOVE IT AND I KNOW THEY WILL TOO.
