although i think bangkok beats it by a hair, choochai is great. everything ive ordered has been great. love the inside of the place and atmosphere, probably the coolest place to sit and eat in lubbock.
While the decor is not the best, there is no need for it because the the cook and his wife are there to greet you when you walk in the door. I have eaten Thai food in the US, UK, and Canada, and the food here is comparable if not better than what I have tried. Most of my friends get Pad Thai, but the soups are by far the best items on the menu (in my opinion). The Special George Green Curry is my favorite and my husband's favorite is a pork soup (not sure what the name is). Definitely give this place a try!
This place has some of the best Thai food I have ever had. It is situated in an old counter-style diner and the building is a bit run-down, but the food is fantastic. I am a regular and Mr. Choochai remembers my name and my usual order. Khow Soy is my favorite dish here, I usually have it with noodles, medium. If you're in L-town and looking for good eats, definately drop in on Choochai. Only complaint is that they sometimes close for a few weeks at somewhat random times.
I lived in Lubbcok for most of my life, and I have had Thai food from many different places. But I haven't found any Thai food that is as well prepared or just plain tastes as good as Choochai's. When ever I go home, that is my first stop. They have the best egg rolls, Pad Thai and Khow Pad that has ever been made.
The place looks kind of weird from the outside but as soon as you walk in, you feel like the food's going to be great. The price is not bad...for the amount of food they give you. The cook makes it nice and fresh for you as soon as you order it. The owners are incredibly nice. It has a really nice home atmosphere and the food is great! I recommend it.
The people are incredibly nice and the atmosphere is cozy. The food is fantastic and probably the best thai food in Lubbock. A definite recommendation to someone who is looking for something a little different and not the norm.
