Fonda San Miguel Restaurant, Austin

5 stars! I love love love Fonda San Miguel! The decor is wonderful, Great Service and Delicious Food!

Fonda San Miguel is one of the finest Restaurants in Texas. My Mrs. and I travel from Houston to Austin three times a year and we always make a point to dine here. The service is always attentive and helpful. The menu is challenging, (won't find a combo-plate here) and the cuisine is world class. I never thought I liked Chile Rellenos before dining here. As stated by others, there are several varieties. Non are the doughy-fried mess served at the mass-market joints. The cochinita pibil is the finest I've ever tasted. My Mrs. loves the mole to the point I bought their excellent cook book and attempt a recipe at least once a month. Rarest of all is the lamb, (all puns intended) as the chef knows how to listen to the customer. I like mine medium and most restaurants serve it rare to raw. At FSM, they serve the meal as I ordered it! The crepes are addictive. The brunch is an experience in sheer delight. No, it's not cheap, quality seldom is. I've read some of the other reviews and I think maybe they should stick to Taco Bell.

The food is good but way too expensive, especially for Mexican food. The wait-staff are snobby and very unfriendly.

Service was good and the restaurant itself is lovely, but the food was mediocre at best and pricey. I was disappointed and probably will not return.

I made a reservation, stating it was my birthday that evening, I recieved no cake to celebrate the event,upon looking around at the other tables that evening I noticed a lot of other birthday cakes being brought to the tables,where was my cake,again stating when I made the res. it was my birthday?Next our meal was taken to the table next to us, I had to demand some more tea for my husband, He ordered the chicken and I could have prepared it better, it was dry and he stated it was tasteless. We have been going to this rest. over the years and have seen it decline. so we will not be going back and certainly will let others no of our experience,and we did pay for the meal.it was not a good birthday celebration.

Love the bar / waiting area -- it's like a little indoor garden. Food is interior Mexican -- very tasty, but pricey. The best entrees I've had are the meat dishes wrapped in a banana leaf (one is pork, the other is chicken), and the chile rellenos are very good. There are several different types of chile relleno.

This is a perfectly balanced restaurant. The decor is stunningly beautiful with an amazing art collection. The food is simply the best to be found anywhere. I've traveled all over Europe and eaten in some famous places but rate Fonda Number One.

I like this restaurant. Granted, there are only two vegetarian choices in the menu but the quality of the food, the service and the ambiance keep us coming back. They have house-made mango sorbet and the patio is just beautiful.

I lived in Austin for 12 years, and Fonda San Miguel is one of the things I miss most! The atmosphere is truely a wonderful experience and the food is superb. They have the best margaritas and awesome chile con queso. A must for anyone visiting Austin
