Description

Equal parts Tex-Mex restaurant and Elvis Presley shrine, this place combines south-of-the-border dining with a Graceland atmosphere, all for a well-affordable price. The wait staff, friendly and helpful, have been voted as the fastest in town by 'Austin Chronicle' readers. Given the competition, it is no small accomplishment that this is commonly considered the best Tex-Mex restaurant in town. The Elvis homage, oddly enough, works. Hubcaps and images of the rock icon set the stage for a dining experience that is pleasant and casual. The menu features a variety of Mexican dishes (the house special, an overstuffed chicken-and-green-chile confection called a Chuychanga, is especially recommended), steaks and burgers, and features a selection of cold beers and mixed drinks to help wash down the hearty meals. Other branches are found at 10520 North Lamar Boulevard and at 11680 Research Boulevard, Austin.

Blah. Nice decor, mediocre food. This is where anglos go for mexican in Austin. It's not a coincidence there aren't any Chuy's east of IH-35. The food I've had is always greasy, too much cheese, not enough flavor. About the best thing that can be said is, it's at least not as dreadful as El Mercado, another favorite of white people that you don't find mexicans eating at.

The food is great, and the service is excellent! Not to mention how amazingly weird the restaurant is... It has like a diner feel to it, and I love it. It really shows individuality and really is just an example of what an amazingly diverse city Austin is! I love their food too... I always order the Nacho's off the appetizer because it is cheaper and a very good size. I love all the food though, and have never had a problem with it. Anyone who lives in Austin and hasn't been to Chuy's, hasn't experienced Austin to the fullest. And, anyone who visits and doesn't go to Chuy's, they are missing out on excellent service, affordable prices, and great vibes. I recommend this place to everyone!

I love the atomosphere but always crowded. I always have to push my way to bathroom. I have always had good service, food and bar. My drinks are alway perfect.

Jalapeno ranch is the best dressing. Very nice place to take friends and family from out of town. This is also a great location. Amanda S.

I've been coming here since 1983 and it remains an icon now 26 yrs later. I love the ambiance (who could ever get tired of velvet Elvis), the staff and most of all the Comida Delux. I'll never tire of this institution and am heartend that they continue to expand. I want them to be around as long as I am.

Chuy's has the best chili relleno that I've ever eaten bar none. I always make a point of going there once or twice when I'm in town visiting relatives.
